carthorse
Hi all i`m fairly new too the site although i have been a Ford owner for 4 years now driving a 5 door 1.8 Focus TDCI 04 plate "great car no problems. Recently with us having a new addition to the family i have decidedto buy a Mondeo Zetec 5 DR hatchback 2.0l 140ps 6 spd man diesiel on a 08 plate after reading on the forum do i need to have any worries about excessive tyre wear. Before buying this car i looked around at other dealers Skoda/Lexus/VW etc and the majority all seemed to say the same on the bigger cars about excessive wheel wear in some shape or form

brianfixit
Hi I have the very same car but an 2006 model and have just put new tyres on for the first time since new after 31,000 miles. The front ones were just on the limit and the back ones had quite a bit of run left on the but I decided to renew thm all as there were a special offer on at costco of £65 each if you bought 4 . Now I would'nt say that was excesive tyre wear!. but I drive carefully and am not a boy racer at 67 years old. I use the car for towing as I have a caravan and must say the car has been faultless and a joy to drive with great mpg. Brian
mintalkin
a question from an average driver, which make of tyre did you get 31000 miles from? i can only manage 20000 miles from Bridgestone ER300s or Pirelli. have just gone to Micheline to see if they are more durable. Hi, I got 18000 from an 06 130 tdci at the front but the rear had loads left. They were original Goodyears. Hth.
bradders
Hi, I've never had any problems with the rears but the front don't last long in comparison! I have tried expensive and cheaper ones but the difference in mileage isn't fantastic. I've done 5000 miles already in my new one so will keep an eye on them, update to follow!! brianfixit
It was the original tyres from new that I got the 31,000 miles from and they were michelin premacy and thats what I have replaced them with. Brian
