Best place to sell my Mk7?

Unfortunately I have to sell my Fezza, not super urgent so I do want to get a good price. I've never sold a car before (they normally die before I get to that stage) so I'm not sure of the best way.

I've bought and sold on eBay for years but nothing of this value and the websites that offer to buy any car quote rubbish prices. Any advice appreciated!

The specs below cos I know you guys always like that kind of thing.

By the way, re order times, I only had to wait 6 weeks! Ordered March, drove it away in April, you guys are really patient putting up with 14 weeks - do they want to sell you a car or not? Very cheeky.

Spec: Mk7 1.6TDCi, 09 plate, Sea Grey, Titanium X, bluetooth and USB, Curtain Airbags, Deleted Privacy Glass, Spare wheel not repair kit, 1800 miles on the clock

i'd try auto trader or piston heads or try and find a ford specialist website

how come you have to sell up after such a short time ?

Because of my work for the next 12 months I'll be away a lot and wont be using it, can't have it loosing 1st years value while I'm not playing in it!

I'll check out piston heads, thanks

To be honest you are going to loose a tonne of money on it anyway as it depreciates quickest as soon as you take it off of the forecourt - it might make more economic sense to keep hold of it and just lock it away for the duration and then get it back ont he road when you can

Try these two sites to get a guideline price, theres no obligation once you have a price and they quote on line.

They dont offer top price, but you dont have to mess around with adverts ,test drives and waiting for money to clear etc.

I used the second one to sell my Fiesta last week, they beat the Ford dealers price by a couple of hundred, and they came to collect from my house, the first one want you to go to them and only matched my dealers offer.

I've just sent off for quotes on mine - why do I do it when I have already given it to the garage for £4,800 (webuyanycar did give me a quote of £4,845 so was happy with the £4,800 especially as it was technically illegal for not having an MOT!)

Depends how much he paid for it.

Selling it now he probably wouldn't lose a penny and may even make a profit due to the supply and demand of the Fiesta plus the numerous price increases.

Comparing it to mine, just had a look on Autotrader and the cheapest 3dr 09 plate 1.4 Titanium on there is £12000, it has over 4 times as many miles on it as mine and doesn't have the Dress Up Kit. That's almost £1000 more than I paid for mine.

Just got my offer through from sellyourjamjar - 4,100 - seems I got a pretty good deal off of my dealer and also a decent discount on the car too

Sorry to hear that Adam but I agree with Keith here.

I just happened to mention to my dealer a few weeks ago that I liked the new RS Focus and he intimated to me that I would get an extremely favourable price for mine partly due to the fact that they can't get enough of certain models at the moment.

It does all depend on what you paid for it of course so, my advice would be not to rush into a sale until you've checked out demand etc.

Whatever you do I wish you luck anyway!

It's good news for us in a way though, our cars sell for more than we bought them for at the minute :D

Thanks for the advice, I've had 3 quotes from online buying websites, all FAR lower than Autotrader prices - being quoted no more than £11100 for a £16000 car! Ouch.

Will approach some dealerships direct now, if they're selling at near new prices maybe they'll buy at a reasonable price..?

KeithC, I did get a good price for it so that should dampen the blow! As I said, I'm not desperate for the cash immediately so I could go private sale to get the best price, not sure about how to be paid for the car though with no chance of being scammed? I've even heard of cheques clearing and then bouncing 2 weeks later once the banks realise it was a fake cheque!

Cheers guys

I think some peope on here are over estimating the demand and supply situation, its got a lot better in the last few weeks,my local dealer have 8 zetecs on the forecourt avaliable for immediate delivery,

I also have noticed the Jersey hire cars are starting to appear as low miles 09 reg,on the forecourts in the north west(@Polar ford),most of these are high spec.

This dealer has some cars similar to yours,at around the 13k price point, brand new,

What you will notice is that the vast majority of those are 5 dr models on that link and sitting on forecourts countrywide. The supply of 3dr models, the most popular and better looking model is the one causing delays. Again, all the 1,4 Titaniums on there are £1000 more than what I paid and none have the Tech Pack or Dress Up Kit.

Just had a look at Polar Fords, there's two within 5 miles of me and the cheapest 1.4 Titanium they have for sale is a Morello. It's done 300 miles less than mine and is up for £13,000. £2000 more than what I paid for mine and no Tech Pack or Dress Up kit and again, the less desirable 5dr.

So, I stand by my original statement, if you are selling a car now that was bought earlier this year, you may actually make a profit. I think Adam paid around £12,500 for his, so if it's a 3dr I'm sure he will get in and around that figure if he put it up for sale. The cheapest Titanium X on that link is £800 more than what Adam paid.
