Checking 1.0 Ecoboost Oil Level

Featured Replies

Maybe it's me but when I check the oil level it's pretty much all up the dipstick, very difficult to tell the actual level. Am I alone?

Have you wiped it off before reinsterting the dipstick. & removing it again to view the level?

As above, have no problem with mine

Yes, of course I "whip it out and wipe it" but next time in then out, oil is all up the stick mainly along one edge.

This may be a silly question but is the engine totally cold when you check it??

  • Author

Yep, I tried it an hour or so ago, still the same. It looks as though there's far too much oil in.

I tend to leave mine overnight and check it first thing in the morning (assuming you don't park on a slope)

The 5w20 Magnatec Ecoboost oil is very thin and therefore can be tricky to see when its new.
