I think feeling like that is common, so I wouldn't worry too much. I was offered a PhD when I finished my MEng but decided I'd rather work and earn some money. It was tempting though as I really liked the department and subject. I don't think it would have been the same after all of my friends had left though. In the end I got a job at a company a few hundred yards from the uni anyway so I didn't go far! I stayed there for a few years before moving to my current company (still not far from the uni). Quite a few of the guys I work with have PhDs, but I'm now a CEng so I don't feel bad about not being a doctor. Oh, and you don't have to be a doctor of the medical variety to earn a good salary either, as long as you get good qualifications and join a company that values them.

I agree with getting out of the EU, and the Irish government are using Brexit to mask over some EU migration agreements, theres a number of hotels around the country which the banks repossessed; now owned by EU there housing migrants in the hotels; most in rural areas where there are no facilities only a local grocery shop; most migrants are from countries where they killed Catholics as part of there war, now there being housed in a catholic country eh hello 

Anyway enjoy your two weeks holidays, you remind me of a work college; we work different shifts each week, and he keeps saying only three weeks of nights left until Christmas; as though we won't be doing it all again next year 🤷‍♂️ I asked him last week was he planning to die at Christmas or something because I dont understand the excitement of only having three weeks of nights remaining; when were back in for another round next year, it's a false celebration to an end.

However in your case it may be like the movie dusk to dawn 😅 where he steps out for a minute then goes back its completely different like you stepped outside when everything was going right.

Thanks Tim 👍. I think the main worry really is just what career I want to go in after. The scientist training program I want to do has little vacancies and many applicants. For my specialism I want to go into there was 3 vacancies and 300 applicants last year. One of the guys in my course had a meeting with the teacher and he said it's near impossible for him to get in. Don't know if it's because he got a 2.1 in his undergraduate course and due to the competition they look at people with a 1st 🤷‍♂️. One girl who did this masters course went and worked as a consultant in PWC. Was checking that and that's a really decent starting salary at £56k. Only thing is I think it's better working in the public sector plus the NHS I heard have a good pension scheme. I really want a job were I can earn near £80k when I reach the top of my career.

Could be or might be phychology 😂. Saying that in one of my virology lectures I asked the teacher is a virus a living thing and he replied 'I don't care' then saying there's mixed thoughts on this then saying we could go on with phylosophy. I've noticed a few things are kind of phylosophical in my course which makes me if I should of done phylosophy 😂. I started then doing religious phylosophy with the English lads in the class 🤣. 

The thing with this uni is you get a lot of clever people who don't really have much social skills say to people in undergrad. Not as bad as doctors thankfully but I've noticed.

I do like returning home after a pleasant weekend away with my mother for her birthday.  We will definitely make a return visit to Dornoch and the "new" Toyota made the trip there and back with no problems

A work college has been using a streaming box to watch television for the past four years,

It's now been blocked; he phoned his internet provider to purchase a paid subscription box from them and there telling him that they cant provide this service in his area because the internet connection isn't strong enough 😂

The guys been streaming for free past four years; he now wants to pay to retain the streaming ability and they won't supply 😂😂

@Lenny I wanted to ask what is security like in a private sector job. I'm beginning to think I might want to work in a pharmaceutical company after my studies. There's not much jobs out there in the NHS for scientists.

I'm honestly a little stressed at the moment. Think it might be with the new place I'm travelling to plus having to go 5 days a week, 4 days finishing at 5pm so getting home at around 6 and not having much time to myself. Hope it's like this for the first term.

A lot of it is psychological/mental health related unfortunately and with no help available from therapists etc, it is unlikely to improve in the long term. 
I've lived with various forms of mental illness throughout my life and yet no one can give me help or an answer as to when and why my problems started.

Mate i hope you get there and sort it out but i 100% know what you mean as i get very,very down to the work i have been doing and are now and also it runs in my close family.

Mental illness is a massive thing now and a lot of people down see this and again agree there is not a lot of help out there and been through and still are going through the system.

Thanks man. There is no help out there though. If you get seen you only get 6 sessions of therapy and that's it. Even then you have to wait upto 12 months to get seen. The whole system is a joke and had millions of pounds of funding taken away, even though more and more people need help with their mental health now. 

I've been through the system 3 times now and each time I had maybe 3 or 4 sessions with a therapist and was then discharged. 2 years ago I was supposed to be referred to the psychology team but it never happened. Someone didn't put the referral through so I was discharged back to my GP (who is useless tbh). I did see a psychiatrist for 1, 45 minute session and that was the end of that, despite me telling them exactly how I felt. 
The common tactic now with mental health teams is to ask you to see your GP or go to A&E if you feel you are a danger. Even then you barely get any help. 

I'm sorry you experience feeling low and down. Unfortunately my issues go a lot further than that due to having other complex mental illnesses (I'm not a danger to anyone but myself btw). 

Also, it's a bit ironic that this was posted on world mental health day. The only time you seem to see people saying it's ok to seek help and it's good to speak out about mental illness.

It's a massive thing now,my brother is 68 and had it from a teen and taken them from a teen until 3 years ago to get deeper into it  and now we never see him as he is not that local to us,  he is in like a home where he can come and go when he wants as got his own room and got a restaurant/gardens and 24/7 help there if needed, its like a 100 room hotel sort of set up but not a hotel and run by the health people who need that bit of support and help,he was nasty with his at times in the past so i have seen and been through the big side of it.

Mine is mainly to do with caring which i have done for over 15 years with mom and now dad going places like consultants/nurses (which we see every week) and other stuff and being i gave up a great 8 till 5 job years ago onto this 24/7,people can come back from work and relax and stuff but this is day and night and yet again there is nothing at all as been there 4 times now and that's my life, weekends are not weekends just another 2 days which are the same but that's life aint it and i know there are loads just on here who can relate to this.

Somewhere with a good Research & Development team will have strong investment and job security. The human health division pays almost double what the vettenary division pays.

You might not get in to the best pharmaceutical company first time but once your in that line of work it's all transferable experience; 

Overall my advice to you would be to choose private sector ultimately bio pharmaceutical,

bearing in mind your a young chap with no ties you have plenty of opportunity to explore the market and move from one to the other; the first place might not be great so move on for better pay elsewhere these places make billions per year millions per month; money is no object, all experience is valued so regardless of the company you first get in to, it will help open doors for you to get higher up the ranks in to a better paying company. 

My previous experience in other pharmaceutical companies helped get me in to this position too.

Two years back I was in the market to purchase a few well three Samsung televisions for the house; I went to my local electronics stores for a look then came home to search the chosen model online for the best price and saved over €350 on the total price of all three by purchasing online from LaptopsDirect instead of locally or at an alternative online supplier of that specific model,

I've been on the market for a desktop computer because our eldest is now in secondary school and requires a computer to practice at home aswell as complete some homework,

I haven't had a laptop or desktop in over ten years now as I've thankfully been in long term stable employment I didn't need to create a CV and I use my smartphone for everything I need to do online, 

I'll try to condense this story as much as possible here 😅

I shopped around localy and found alot of all-in-one screens and personally I prefer the old style type tower with separate screen and keyboard rather than the tower being built in to the screen as in the event the screen was ever to accidentally get damaged then its all useless, 

I also wanted a system which would last a few years before becoming old stock; overall then I chose to purchase a Dell XPS 8930 tower with separate screen and keyboard,

I'm quite a loyal online shopper and had intended on purchasing all of the items directly from Dell as one would surely assume the cheapest place would be from them directly with an overall discount 🤷‍♂️ stay tuned.

I then searched Google with the specific model number of the chosen Dell tower, Monitor, wireless keyboard mouse and sound bar, 

The premium wireless keyboard&mouse didn't come up any cheaper anywhere else and the particular XPS 8930 tower isint available anywhere else with the chosen spec so they got there opportunity to spit roast me on the purchase of those items, However to my surprise; 

Above theres Dells prices with a promotional discount Charging;

€457.55 for the Dell P2415Q Monitor ex. shipping 

€46.39 for the Dell AC511M Sound Bar ex. shipping

Total cost from Dell for both items €503.94 ex. Shipping.

Now over to a middle man LaptopsDirect for a price on the exact same items:

Dell P2415Q Monitor €394.97 excluding shipping

Total Cost from LaptopsDirect for both items €427.94 ex. Shipping 

🤯I've saved €76.00 by purchasing both items from a third party supplier instead of purchasing directly from there manufacture i really didn't expect to find this when purchasing directly from a manufacturer.

Thanks Lenny that honestly gives me hope on what career to persue. You don't know have how much stress I went through just starting my masters on what career to persue. Really thank you for that ❤️👍. 

Can I ask what you started working as when you got in the industry? I'm starting to think now of going into a phd in the same course as my masters then hopefully be able to get into the research and development department. Biopharmaceuticals sounds very relevant to my studies so hopefully might be able to get in there. Only thing is if I will be able to get in first time or start off in another job in the same company and get experience and work my way up.
