Advice On Hids For St3

Aha, I know. I'm sure if I do that, plus get the interior plastics sprayed in white too, the car would, aesthetically, get no better for me! But, that stuff costs money, unfortunately! But yeah, I just like having the white / blue combination. I also want to get this, but I can't find anything on the web about installing it...

Everything adds up really quickly I know tbf I wouldn't bother respraying my stock alloys it was just that the ones I got for winter needed a refurb anyway that I took the plunge. It is a nice colour combo I agree, bold though and can go either way, didn't like it when Ford did it to the mk7 zetec s

Not sure on the instrument cluster exactly. You can get the whole cluster out by taking off the plastic cover on the top of steering column and then undoing the two screws which that covers (below the dials). You then unplug the connector block at the back and you're left with the whole instrument cluster out. I'm not sure where to go from there though.

I think it goes pretty well because the ST logos and ford ambient stuff is all red. Its actually quite a nice contrast from the body colour, plus red isn't too dazzling to drive with. The blue seems to have worked out just as well for you though.

Got to man up with the alloys :P

EDIT:

I do feel that the peddles give at least an extra 20bhp :D

I do like this alloys where they from?

Fair play, they look decent. Sod paying nearly £50 for the ones from Ford. Might just purchase these, and you just remove the current rubber cover... and fit these onto the existing pedal (with some force?) lol

They're originally from the old Ford Focus ST 170, got them off eBay for next to nothing because they were in terrible condition, soon had them whipped back into shape though.

HIDS are in! :D and having tested them both I went with the night breakers for the main beam. The cool blue intense bulbs still looked yellow in comparison to the HIDs and didn't give off as much light.

Need to wait for it to get dark so I can set their level properly, didn't get flashed on my test run though which is a good sign :)

HID's look ace!

Built into the headlights mate. Only Titanium and ST 3 have them.

What sidelights are they CREED?

The full beam is the night breakers with 4300K HIDs for dipped and then just the stock DRLs mate

EDIT: as willy said they're the standard DRLs from Ford

I've taken the plunge for a fiver! One of these days I'll stop letting money drip out of my account on my car. One of these days...

Haha. Good man!! Can't wait for mine to be delivered :D

  • 2 weeks later...

I just need mine to bladdy arrive now! I'm really keen to fit them!

Checked your tracking... to see your shipments location?

I haven't recently. It's a bit of a faff to get it translated and decipher the Chinese anyway!

Try that!

It arrived at Heathrow yesterday, by all accounts! I always find it amazing how it can be so cheap to buy something from China and get it sent all the way, thousands of miles, to my address in the UK. It doesn't do much for my carbon footprint, I'm sure, but there isn't much incentive to buy locally when it is so much cheaper!

The plane was on route anyway with a shed load of other mail. Don't feel bad! :D

I'm torn between matching the LEDs and having a nice crisp colour. Does anyone have 5000k ones? Thinking they might be the best of both worlds. Also have either of you had any issues with law over having the non OEM looking 6000k ones?

I think I'm looking at the same ones as you have Phil, 35W, w/ canbus and terminator: http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/h7-canbus-terminator-hid-xenon-conversion-kit-dipped-beam/

I have 5000k http://www.hids4u.co.uk/H7-55w-Ultimate-Xenon-HID-Conversion-Kit-H7ULT3.html

i have these absolutely brilliant, got them adjusted at a large ford dealer so as not to risk dazzle.the difference is amazing on the roads.as to the ballasts they get warm but not hot.

have you got these ones?

Buy cheap buy twice .... :P

Crikey... How bleeding much?????

They arrived within 10 days (tracking number included). First of all I did order a 8000K kit, but after a few days of having them in... I thought they were too blue. So I ordered the 6000K kit (from same seller) and downgraded to 6000K. I have spare 8000K H7 HID bulbs if anyone's interested?

(installation)

These other websites that people have mentioned, I would avoid. As they are exactly the same products, but being sold at a much, much higher price. I paid approx. £12 for my kit, yet these HID websites are selling for £95! Daylight robbery IMO

its all down to the quality of the ballasts, ive used a few kits over the years, the best ones have large heavy metal ballasts with no plastic on them at all.also the cheapo chinky ones make the bulbs look to blue/purple and not like the decent oem colours.

i have 5k bulbs and they are brilliant white...

if i could put one of my ballasts side by side on your car with your £12 ballast i think you would appreciate the difference.

Crikey... How bleeding much?????

have you seen how much oem lights costs ?

like i said buy cheap buy twice.i have seen cheap plastic ballast melt ,could cause a fire !!

i will try and find you a link...brb
