the wifes car is having this issue where the coolant boils over. the temp gauge always stays on norm.

the fan kicks in but we have this issue ?

any ideas.

    Could be a blown head cylinder gasket, allowing gasses to pass through. Or a simple blocked pipe.

    Sounds like either a head gasket, or hopefully not, a cracked head. If you have a good local garage, they can use their gas analyser in the expansion tank and tell you if it's either of those. Unfortunately can't tell you which one without lifting the head,.
