Thanks mate.

I will give that a go. If it doesn't go off then it goes back to ford!

I've been wondering about this too, does the perimeter alarm just detect the doors being opened or is it anything to do with the windows too? After hearing about all the cars being stolen because the windows can be broken in the corner without setting off the alarm, it seems that the alarm isn't doing its job properly.

Perimeter alarms just cover the doors, boot and bonnet.

Another way to test the alarm is to manually unlock your car using a key blade rather than remote buttons and wait.

The alarm should sound until you press a remote button or put a key into the ignition and turn to I.

I had aftermarket alarms fitted to my previous cars which didn't have factory fitted alarms of any sort. I thought as my current car has a perimeter alarm, I wouldn't bother with an aftermarket alarm - but now I am undecided whether to get one or not.

Dont think you can open the doors from the inside if there locked?

I still not heard my alarm. Tried locking with the window down and reaching in to open. That didn't work

I did a similar thing, locked the car with the windows open then my mate put his jacket in the car before we set off, and the alarm deafened us both lol. It's seriously loud, probably designed to damage a thief's hearing before he can get away with anything.

Yeah mate you can what I did was sat in back seat as I don't ever sit in back to see how comfy it was and I locked car from inside with a double click on the key then forgot I actually locked the car and opened the door and fek me it's loud a didn't know what to do apart from press every button on remote key lol

Yours is different though Phil, we have a perimeter alarm, you will have motion sensors

I need to test mine tomorrow. I did a few weeks ago left the drivers window open, locked the car... then reached in to unlock the door. Which I managed to do, but no alarm went off.

The Fiesta can be equipped with two types of alarm, depending on the model. The normal Fiesta (zetec, titanium, trend) is only available with the perimeter alarm. The ST has a Thatcham category 1 alarm. This is with interior sensors and door death locks. The perimeter alarm has a simple horn in the boot, and the thatcham cat. 1 alarm has an siren with backup battery in the engine bay.

Testing the systems is quite simple:

Perimeter: Leave a window open, lock the car, wait for 30 seconds and open the door from the inside. The alarm goes of.
ST Thatcam cat. 1: Leave a window open, lock the car, wait for 30 seconds and just put your hand trough the open window, after a couple of seconds the alarm goes of.

If your Fiesta is equipped with the keyless entry option, leave the key fob out of the signal range. Otherwise the car knows you're there and deactivates the alarm system.

Yes you're right, and Harry explains it perfectly. I assumed mine had the perimeter alarm too but maybe not.

I originally tried testing it with the window open but dead locked the car, so could not open the door - so no alarm going off. Later, after posting on here I sat in the car & single locked it, pulled interior handle & hey presto alarm blaring at me.

How did you get on with ur alarm?

I went back to the car, sat in it then pressed lock button once to lock. Pulled interior handle & it went off, then pressed unlock button to turn alarm off.
