Alloys Question To The St Ecoboost Owners

Featured Replies

The sad day has come after 6 months where I have finally curbed an alloy :(

The question is

1- has anyone got the standard alloys sprayed?

2- if you have aftermarket alloys what ones have you got?

As thinking of getting them coloured black or buy another set.

Just get them refurbished

If they're not that bad leave them for now; that way if you curb them again you won't be annoyed and have to refurb/spray again!

I've got a small mark on mine that's right next to the tyre, barely noticeable but i was raging when I'd done it!

How much to refurbish alloys anyone know as I am in the same position

Looking at about £50 a wheel unless they're really bad

What if the are bad?

Even if it's really bad it should be about £70-80.

Main problem is ford don't have a paint code for the rado grey, volvo 932 is the closest match. My dealer wasn't willing to refurb the front because they don't think that colour is a good enough match so the colour difference between the from and rear would be noticeable.

On the last ST the misses curbed both near side wheels so had them both done, this car needs the front doing.

I'm in 2 minds wether to get a new or used wheel or put the money towards a different set of wheels.

I've got 2 tiny marks on 1 wheel. Not worth the worry of a refurb, will only consider that if they get extremely kurbed!

I had a mark near the tyre on the rim so I put rim blades on and it covered perfectly post-62244-142609576864_thumb.jpg

What colours do the rim blades come in? Looks half decent that!

When I had mine done the guy matched the colour by eye. That's the difference between an expert and a ford dealer!

I've had paintwork done by them before and I've been more than happy, I had my mirrors painted elsewhere in volvo 932 and when placed next to the wheel it looked the same to me. I think I'd be more annoyed if they did paint it and it didn't match the rear wheel, will sort them eventually.

Were yours touched up or refurbed and painted? The whole rim on mine looks like its been polished with a chain saw.

I had a set of alloys powder coated last summer at City Powdercoaters Fazeley st Birmingham £20 per wheel or £30 if they remove and replace tyre. I had Gloss black nice job.

The damage was about 3" or 4" along the edge of the wheel so he had to rub it down smooth then repainted the damaged area and around blending it all in. I used a mobile smart repairer so he did it all in the back of his van.

I took my car to a guy who repairs alloys today. He informed me that my alloys had already been repaired once already and they are flaking already because they did a tubing job.

Considering I have only had the car about 2 months I thinking to take it back to the ford garage I got it from and asking them to repair them.

Do you lot think they will do this or not??

Worth a try
