* Fiesta "keyless Open/start" Query?

Featured Replies

I've got keyless open/start on my new Fiesta, and I'm still trying to understand the security aspects of it so, if I go out to walk my dog and walk past my car with the key fob in my pocket, would the car unlock?

If so, how long would it stay unlocked for and, does it automatically lock after 30 seconds; bearing in mind that during that 30 seconds, it would be vulnerable to break-in?

I done a test yesterday at my brothers house on this and you have to virtually right on top of the car AND press the door lock button thing to unlock the car past that the car is very secure. I back mine up with a steering lock and both keys are NOT in the same place

It would only unlock if you press the button, if you press the button and don't open the door it will lock after a short period of time.

You do need to be close to the car for it to sense the fob.

No it won't unlock just because you're close to the car. You have to either push the little button on the handle or open the tailgate,

Thanks to all who replied to my query on keyless opening/start. Now I know how it should work.

Keyless entry owner here too.

As mentioned, to unlock car you need to push the small black button on the door handle. The car won't unlock if you walk past it, with the keyfob in your pocket. If however you unlock (using the black button on door handle) and you don't actually open the door... it will relock automatically after so many seconds.
