I know it's over 4 months away but I think now is as good a time as any to start planning the convoy :)

This will be for anyone going south on the M1 to get to Silverstone on the morning of 2nd August. Here's a map of my route:

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/dir/53.7909608,-1.4254043/Silverstone+Circuit,+Towcester/@52.8321303,-3.7772574,7z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m8!4m7!1m0!1m5!1m1!1s0x48771c5823926c25:0x1142afb591c324a6!2m2!1d-1.014663!2d52.073301

Some of us did this last year and driving down together was one of the highlights of the day, even though there were only 3 cars in the convoy (hoping for more this year). So anyone interested in joining the convoy please post below and I'll make a list :)

Final Updates:

Woodall Services, leaving around 5:30am:
Phil 87 - Fiesta ST3 - Spirit Blue
nath.mk7.st - Fiesta ST2 - Spirit Blue
GingerFlame - Fiesta MK6 - Aquarius Blue
Charles2014 - Fiesta MK7.5 Titanium X - White
B49adam - Focus MK3
Yunii - Focus Titanium - Silver
Leicester Services, arrive 6:30am leave by 6:45am:
Danthorpe1983 - Escort MK6 - Silver
The route: getting off the M1 at junction 15A and following the A43 to Silverstone
Arrive at Silverstone (or at the back of the queue to get in) by 7:40am
Waiting to hear from:
Chrispugh21 - Fiesta MK7 Zetec S - White
Saulamandetra - Escort Van - Red
Let me know if any of the above is incorrect or if you disagree with any of it.

I've added you to the list :). You'll have the best bit to look forward to towards the end, when the roads are nothing but Fords.

I'm crap with directions as I haven't been driving long.. I'm coming from Bridlington, YO15. Where abouts on your route do you think I'd end up joining you, I'd anywhere?

You'd have to set off very early in the morning, but fair enough if that's what you want to do :). Last year the first place we planned to meet was Woolley Edge Services near Wakefield on the M1.

If you don't want to set off really early in the morning, you could try and get a cheap hotel room closer to Silverstone, or even somewhere along the M1 so you can join the convoy but not get up at stupid o'clock lol. Or you could camp nearby which I think a lot of people will be doing.

I'm hoping to camp so if I do I might get up early so I can get in the convoy lol

I think the camp site is right next to the circuit, so it might not be possible to meet up that close with all the traffic that will be there. I'll have to see if there's a good meeting point not far from the circuit though, and if there is we could probably meet up before we go in :)

Ginger. I thing it would be easier for you to get down to hull. Then m62 m18. M1 and meet at the services Tibshelf. Between jct 28&29

That makes it a fairly clean run for you should take you about 70mins at that time of the morning.

Yeah that's a better idea. I forgot to check Google maps for your whole route. It says A614 -> M62 -> M18 -> M1. Could also meet at Woodall services, but we have a few months to plan all that lol.

So if I took those routes what time would I have to be setting off to meet you all there? Bear in mind that chances are I'll be downsizing to a 1.25 :(

I'd probably want to meet at Woodall if that's okay? As i think its a much nicer services! :)

I reckon about 0400 ish. The worst part for you ginge would be brid to hull. You should be at woodhall with time to pee drink coffee have a bacon butty and moan at the others when they arrive for taking their effin time lol

We did a convoy a couple of years back. Going to. Cougar fest. 6 v6 2.5 ltrs moded, in convoy on the M1 made a few heads turn :)

Yeah that's probably about right, and don't worry if you only have a 1.25, as long as you can do 70 you'll be able to keep up :)

Will you be joining us Ron?

Would it be any faster joining the M62 at Howden?

If I turn 1 head in the new car I'll be happy.. still can't believe the other's dead :(

Kieran I used to live in Hull and then Howden. If I was travelling down from Brid I would go to Howden and down the M18 to Woodhall just south of Sheffield.

Phil I'm camping again so won't be joining your convoy again but at least I'm letting you down early this year, lol.

I'm hoping to camp so if I do I might get up early so I can get in the convoy lol

The camp site is at Whittlebury Farm but you have to book via the Ford Fair site. From the camp site you can go down a track to the back of the track brings you out at Copse only takes about 10 minutes and you miss all the traffic on the A43.

I think we should figure out the meeting points closer to the time, when we know who will be joining the convoy and where from. Also we probably don't want to be stopping more than 2 or 3 times or we'll end up arriving late.

You know where I'm coming from so whichever services you decide on I'll meet you there, what time will we be arriving there? (approx cause traffic will be bonkers)

Is everyone driving home that night or staying over?

I think we need to try and get there around 7:30 but no later than 8. But yes there will be huge queues of traffic to get in so we can't be sure when we'll actually get to our stand.

I'll be driving home afterwards, and I think most of us started leaving around 5 or just before last year. No need for a convoy on the way back though :)

You can get tickets from the fordfair site, or somewhere on the forum but I can't find the link now
