chrisroberson99
No the current Fiesta is MK7.5 (the .5 implying that it's a facelift) Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S6
gillyallan
The electronics on the fiesta are pretty complicated. Are you saying when you press for air con that the main fan in engine bay comes on and stays on or the fan in the car interior ?
Willy
The 2012 Mk7.5 Fiesta fan does stay on after the engines turned off if your using the air con.
markzoe
no what im saying is when the engine is running and the air con is turned on the fan in the engine comes on and stays on if i run it for a hour the fan runs for a hour wondered if anyone might know what is wrong with it if i turn the ignition of then it stops :0)
Willy
Sounds about right mate. Cooling Fan does stay on when your using air con especially when it's warm. I'm sure it's normal behaviour mate.

gillyallan
I need to test this too. Seems odd to other cars I've had but maybe the air con radiator is small and needs cooling more so they decided to have fan on constant if using it. The car is a strange beast electronically. I'd love to go to some seminar where a ford tech took you through all its oddities.
cjay1
if the fan is on constant does this mean the compressor is on constantly what effect does it have on fuel efficiency. i always set the climate to auto which puts the air con on is the compressor running when not needed
Willy
The compressor is running all the time the a/c is on
gillyallan
Cjay1. Once on auto fan you can turn a/c off. This is generally how mine is set (and a few others on here) I then manually decide on the a/c side. To be honest this setup is more suited to the colder weather where I'm generally only heating. I still manually work the a/c every couple of days to keep it operational or if damp to clear moisture. I might revert to a/c being on all times in summer...will see, or might just stick to manually deciding.
cjay1
thanks didn't realize the compressor was on all the time the ac light was on thought is was only on when actually cooling the car, will try switching it off. although i don't think it reduces mpg much as i'm currently averaging 47 mpg urban 88% cold engine average speed 16 mph which i think is fantastic compared to my old 1.25 fiesta which only averaged 36 mpg in same conditions.
