Fenners
I'm swapping my car on Monday and want to remove the sill plates with out damage to the car or sill plates, is this possible?
Gary.J
Depends how they are attached. If its adhesive, you may be able to use heat to soften the glue, and gently prise the plate up, but use something under the tool where you are levering on the sill to prevent marking. Then you'll have to remove any remaining adhesive with something like white spirit, meths, or maybe rubbing alcohol.
BHeart
The chances of damaging the plates or paintwork are quite high and I'd personally buy new. Is it a new car? If so, if you want Ford scuff plates then just buy new and save the hassle. Or, there are plenty of great looking alternatives on amazon or eBay which are normally cheaper. Fenners
Yes they look good, ford quoted me £50 even though I'm picking a new car up tomorrow so saving the £20! Are there anymore little mods people have done?
Gary.J
Yep, fit a dashcam. If you're involved in an accident that's not your fault, having video as evidence will save you a lot of hassle when claiming against the other driver. When you consider most other drivers will claim it's not their fault, or actually blame you, this will save you a lot of money, and time. Compulsory and vountary excesses on insurance, especially when you're young is a lot to pay out for something that isn't your fault.
