Are Hid's Worth The Hassle ?

Featured Replies

Are HID's worth the hassle ?

Taking them out for the mot / getting caught by the police after an accident etc (touch wood)

Are the practical and not just look better. Id like some brighter headlights !

If you have projector headlights then youll more than likely get away with them without washers & self levelling. I fitted bixenon projectors to my fiesta along with 5k 35w HIDs and it passed an MOT after replacing 2 wheel bearings. Never been pulled, flashed or had a bad word said about them. Done correctly and within reason (colour temp etc) you SHOULD be okay

The light output compared to standard bulbs: in non hid designed reflectors they're craps and infuriating. In correct projector headlights they're amazing!

We have a 2010 Titanium Fiesta which does have projectors, so it could be worth it.

Id get a decent set and closest to white possible.

I'd reccomend 4300k or 5k. Yeah the worst thing you can do is get a cheap set. These have problems with different colours and high failure rates

For our cars, (I have a titanium 2009 with projectors too) which would be your recommended brand, I am looking on amazon and am a bit ignorant , do we just need the bulbs or the kit as well?

You need the full kt

Ballasts and bulbs (H7 for dipped beam / projector)

My neighbour bought a H7 kit from eBay for £25 but then sold his car and his new one already has factory HID, so he gave me his kit.

Ive fitted it today, and it makes quite a bit of difference compared to the Osram Silverstars (2 months old) that were in before. Its a 6000k kit and so much whiter than the Osrams.
