Brake In Period

Featured Replies

Maybe a topic already on this so apologise in advance,

Pick up my new st2 next month, just wondering what the general view is on engine brake in time?

I've read about keeping it under 3k for a certain period of time, but what times do people recommend? Or have some just warmed up and drove it like they stole it aha

Thanks!

Running anything mechanical in I've always avoided putting heavy load on or labouring the engine. Frequent gear changes whilst letting it go through the rev range freely. Try not to thrash it too much but at the same time dont wrap it up in bubble wrap :)

Make sure you let it warm up, and try to take it on as long journeys as you can to get the exhaust and other engine components as hot as possible to help them to bed in or settle in

Yeah I think I'm just going to drive it normally for a few hundred miles until tyres, brakes etc have started to bed in and go from there. I work in an engine test facility and the engines we test do a varied Rev range run in usually and then straight into the desired test.

When people changed the oil at like 1000miles, was this done by yourselves or the dealers?
