Has The Dealership Broken My Radio And Sync?

Featured Replies

I had my 10 plate 2011 fiesta serviced on Thursday at a ford dealership (they collected and delivered it back). I only used it again on Friday and noticed that the radio, cd, aux and phone options no longer work. The only option available is the menu option to change settings. When I was driving home from work at night I also noticed that only the menu button is lit up now. The sync screen just displays the date and time now.

I phoned the dealership today and they asked had the battery been changed during the service and had I disconnected the battery but none of this has been done as the car was completely fine. They think it's just the radio code but wouldn't it ask for that if that was the case? I'm taking it in on Tuesday for them to look at it.

I've included a picture of the screen now as usually when I start the car the radio comes on straight away. I was just wondering if anyone had any idea what could have caused this?

It simply looks turned off - press the volume button in to turn it back on. Menu is the only button that can do anything with it when it's off which is why that one is lit up.

I'm laughing right now because you're right and this is extremely embarrassing! I'll admit I don't really know much about cars and I just didn't realise that was an on/off button. Thanks though because it saves me an even more embarrassing trip to the dealership!

Well I hope this gives people a laugh!

lol glad you've got it sorted! I'm surprised though that when you phoned the dealer they didn't realise this - after all the normal solution to any electrical problem is turn it off and on again!

They probably thought no one could be that blonde!

I now need to phone them on Monday to explain that I won't need to bring it in

Don't worry m8, you're not alone. I had my previous 63 plate Fiesta serviced last November and after I had paid, I started the car and was just about to pull away when I noticed that my radio had not come on when I started the car so I went back in to the service department and told him; he came out to the car, had a look and simply pressed the "ON" button and all was well again.

TBH, I was lost for words :oops:and just said, sorry about that.

They had obviously turned off the radio after the service and I don't normally turn it off when I leave the car and it never occurred to me that there was an "on/off" button.

Yeah i made the same assumption as you, presumed there was something wrong instead of thinking it may just be switched off. At least I know now though!

It's life mate we all do stupid things , dont worry about it

I did laugh, but only a little. :D  :D

I've forgotten about that when I'd disconnected the battery and fuses and things when I was sorting out the Bluetooth on my stereo. There was only me about doing the work, but I felt like a numpty when I began panicking because everything was connected and nothing came on!

"Are you sure it's plugged in at the wall?"
