Adjust Handbrake Mk7.5?

Featured Replies

Hey,

My Fiesta tends to need quite a firm pull on the hand brake not to roll back, even on the paring lot near my flat, and I would call that level.

Anyone tried to adjust / tighten the handbrake in a MK7.5?

Only tried it once on a older Skoda I owned before, but this isn't similar in any way.

Thanks!

Mick

Lots of people said you cannot tighten the handbrake without access to the drums however when detailing my fiesta, I had taken out all the interior trip surrounding the handbrake and gear stick. There is a screw located on the handle itself that doesn't really tighten it as such, but shortens the travel in the handbrake, I tightened it up a and it basically removed the slack from the system. Before i'd have to pull the handbrake up almost all the way where as now just a couple of clicks and its on.

Not advisable so I have learnt!

If you need I can take some photos for you

That is because you need to check both drums are adjusted correctly and equally. Tightening the adjuster without checking the drums isn't advisable.

Mick, ignore what I told you!
