Phone Audio Not Streaming Via Bt...no Usb Port

Featured Replies

So my 09 Ford Fiesta bonds with my iPhone just fine. I can make and receive calls, and can hear everything fine. But it won't stream my music....really disappointed as its my first grown up car with bells and whistles....only the bells and whistles don't work!

There's no USB port to update software, just aux in. All the posts I've found suggest updating software via USB which isn't an option for me. My phone will show music as playing whilst bonded and no sound comes out of my phone so phone thinks the sound is coming out of the car. I am 100% car DIY useless so any help much appreciated! I asked Ford and they didn't have a clue.

I don't mind paying to sort it out but no idea where to start!

I've been working on this on my 09 titanium (also BT/vc with no USB). I'll have confirmation on the 26th if the below works or not, but in the mean time you could have a chat with your ford dealer and see what they think of it.

1) pull display, Bluetooth and radio fuses (behind glovebox)

2) replace Bluetooth module with the 8m5t-19c112-<any N or later> (also behind glovebox)

3) put fuses back

4) get dealer to plug in the IDS diagnostic machine

4.1) update display, BT, audio modules if required

4.2) change parameters "USB unit" to "USB with iPod interface" , "Bluetooth hands free" to "bt/vc phone interface + usb connection"

You're looking at £60-100 for the module second hand (eBay is a good place to look) or ~£300 from ford. Then labour charge for the updates+parameters.

Forgot to mention -- if you get the second hand module you'll need to either get one from the same model of car (I.e. the breakers say "this was taken from a fiesta") , or get the dealer change the model via the ids after fitting it

I wonder if ford would actually do this if I ask them? I know what they can be like!

I doubt they'd give any guarantees or install a second hand module but I don't see why not.

I'll give an update on if it worked for me once the dealers done their part on 26th. I guess your dealer might be happier doing it if it's definitely worked for people before

Dealer on the 26th messed up and told me it was impossible. Went to another dealer today with more detailed notes on how to do it and success :)
