Aircon How Often To Use?

Featured Replies

How often should u use to avoid seals going dry and cracking and making leaks? I try put it on for 10 mins a week

I use it when needed, if it screws up, off to the dealer (under guarantee) I go.

Weekly is recommended.

Also useful for quick demisting.

I never switch mine off, as said it's very good for demisting.

But otherwise, in her car I try to make sure it's used once a week even for just a short period.

I've heard that's a good idea too, but since getting this car I've just used it when needed. Now that it's a year old I should probably start using it occasionally, although the weather is already forcing me to use it.

It's just those few months in between winter and summer (and between summer and winter) when you don't need the cooling or demisting, so I barely use it in those parts of the year.

Couple of minutes every day will keep the seals working but not affect fuel consumption. But if you have to use it then use it.

If the car has climate control I just leave it on auto, keeps the inside at the right temperature and dry.

If you let the seals dry dry out then i dont think Ford will repair it under guarantee,a bit like complaining the tracking is out after you have hit a kerb hard.

You might be right, but if it doesn't say anything about preventing the seals from drying out in the manual then I think it should be covered (I don't know if the manual does mention it or not). Anyway wouldn't the warranty run out before there are any problems?
