Service

Featured Replies

My Fiesta Zetec 1.0 Ecoboost is almost 12 months old so is coming up to its first service.

Does anybody know what a service consists of and how much they are. Thinking of taking it to Evans Halshaw where I bought the car from.

I have recently topped up the engine oil with oil I bought from Evans Halshaw so that shouldn't need doing.

Cheers in advance.

Oil and Filter changes, and then the "visual" checks of some bits, that's it really.

Doesn't have to be done at the dealer, any Ford specialist is fine, get it for £99 elsewhere.

I think most Ford delaers have a set price for a service, 1st year is minor so would be around £150 - and they will change the oil

I would have it done at the dealer you bought if from and get the book stamped - if you have any problems in year 2 it will be much easier to get fixed - my last car at 2 years needed a new shock - not a warrenty part - but my dealer changed it for free as i was a regular "valued" customer.

As Matt said, I can be done anywhere to keep the warranty as long as Ford parts are used. You get a stamp too. The only advantage to going to Ford is the free breakdown cover.

Shocks are a warranty item also.

The old oil is drained completely and new oil added, along with new oil filter. There's not much else involved in the first service, just odour filter and some checks I think. I paid £130 at my local Ford dealer which includes a year's breakdown cover.

Evans Halshaw in Bury charged me £185 (yes, really) for my ZS's first service.

Beware!

Yeah it sounds like the bigger dealers like to charge whatever they want.

I have had the 37500 miles service (full service) spark plug etc. £210 at a ford dealer and like Willy said free AA breakdown cover till your next service.

More for u for paying silly money for a oil change, if your car is running fine up till 1 year then do them service your self, if something does go wrong the money u save over the years going to have it done at 150 a time probs cover your problem, take the risk i am unless something goes wrong in the next 8 months

Fantastic advice there.

Well doesnt apply to people who have no mechanic experiance
