Is it a good or bad to be a Diesel owner?

Definitely like getting over 50mpg compared to my old 1.8 petrol focus which only ever gave me 32mpg.

£35 road tax compared to £180.

It's easier to overtake on the motorway due to the extra torque too.

The diesel is definitely noisier when idling, but once driving it is no louder in the cabin than any ptrol car i've owned.

I won't be going back to petrol as a daily driver, would only consider getting one now if it was for a second car that wasn't available as a diesel.

Just to add with regard to the car tax thing - if the new rates come in in April next year then not only will the 1.6 petrol engined ones go down by £10 pa but the diesels will go down by £15 (cars from 100 - 110g/kms will be just £20!!)

£20?! My car tax is due before April, so I won't benefit, but still, £35 is nowt compared to what our old Focus was! Lol.

I did always wonder what the price would be, when it came time to road tax it ourselves, after the first year at £35, for some reason I was thinking it'd go up... but if it stays the same, I'll be a happy bunny! I'll take £35 over £180 odds anyday! :D
