Focus - Auxillary Heater

Featured Replies

Newbie here. I bought a focus 1.8tdci just a few weeks ago and this is my view from behind the steering wheel. Obviously i dont want to know constantly that my aux heater is off and i would much rather see my mileage and trip. I can do this by pressing the button on the stalk but i would much rather this go away. Any ideas?

First question is "do you have an axillary heater fitted?" if not maybe someone has told the car via an ELM27 that one is fitted

This is a daft message isn't it... Why would it even matter if it was on or off?

Easy to get rid of it though as I had it as well, seems to only be on the '08 models, just need ELMConfig, a modified ELM cable and a laptop, it's then as simple as unticking a box. :)

Auxiliary heater would most likely be what's also known as a Fuel Fired Heater (FFH) usually only fitted to colder markets, it's a secondary heater using diesel as it's fuel so heats up lot quicker than relying on coolant temperature.

Another variation is a PTC heater which uses an electrical element within the HVAC to achieve similar results.

Hi, did you ever sort this? As I have just bought a focus and it’s doing the same, it’s beeping everytime I switch off which is annoying too, thanks

Need to switch it off with a modified ELM327 cable (recommend Tunnelrat) and ELMConfig (free download).

I don't know how anyone put up with this message for the entire warranty period let alone 10 years...some people really must be oblivious to anything on their dashboard!
