skinnerwill
hi, car runs fine till warmed up, then if you try to re-start car it wont and EAC fail flashes up on dash. leave it 15 minutes and its fine again. I used a OBD2 tool/scanner and it doesn't show any codes or faults even when it says fault on dash. the car doesn't miss a beat at all when driving, doesn't go into limp mode or anything, just wont re-start till cooled a little any help or tips much appreciated
troy45
OBD scanner won't always pick up faults - the protocol is mainly for allowing engine type codes to be read and fixed without car going to a main dealer. There are still a lot of faults which would usually only be picked up through a Ford IDS machine. You might have better luck with an ELM327 unit running ELMconfig or ForScan software. skinnerwill
thanks for reply, I also have a ELM327, I will try again with that, otherwise looks like a trip to dealership
jeebowhite
best bet is to have a modified ELM cable and use FORSCAN. However, the issue you explain suggests it will be either: 1) Camshaft sensor or 2) vacuum pipe for the butterfly valve of the throttle body
skinnerwill
thanks again for reply, how do you modify cable or can you buy them modified. as for forscan I tried to download it earlier but my security wouldnt let me saying it was a threat, anyone else had that or shall I turn security off and just download it
jeebowhite
You can buy the cable for about 14 quid, and as for the threat I haven't seen it but some software can be very over protective
Russ
Have you tried cleaning the butterfly flap in the throttle body with a cleaner?
skinnerwill
no not as yet, off work tomorrow so will have a look. as for the forscan I tried again and managed to download it this time. will try with ELM cable if doesn't work I will get modified one off eBay, (any recommended sellers or doesn't make much difference) thanks again for advice/input
