JonnWhite
Hi everyone quick question about the fuel system in my car. The picture isn't very good as I was In a rush to take it. My fuel light comes on with roughly 100 miles in the tank? The gage is still well before the red is this normal? My focus came in around 50 miles. My mums comes on around 30-50 (62 plate focus)? Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
MattDRX
Both my 1.0 and ST was about 49-55miles. 100 is way too much.
JonnWhite
Should I take it back? Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
MattDRX
Yeah, depends on what is wrong, the guage could be wrong and it is actually low on fuel or vice versa. With 100 miles left and the light on, it should have about 4 litres left in it, how much can you put in the car to fill it up at this point? But under warranty, take it back to them, you may need to get it to 100 miles with the light on to show them the fault though, don't turn up with plenty of fuel to show them. JonnWhite
Next time the light comes on I'll try and get to a fuel station. The time after I think I'll book it in, if they have to keep it I will need a courtesy car though for work purposes :/ Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
matt1981
Doesn't look right don't expect the light to come on until it's at the red point. Just show them the picture
JonnWhite
That's what I was thinking. I also think if they say there isn't anything wrong I'll take it to another garage. Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC

JonnWhite
Phones ford. Lady who spoke to me said she had the same car as me and the light comes on around 50miles. So she booked it in and I've got a loaner :). Not booked in till the 5th June though :( Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
JonnWhite
So I managed to get a clearer picture of the gauge. Also, with the mi to 0 reading 0 and my gauge all the way on the red I put this in. So I thinks there's a glitch somewhere! I guess it's a 42litre? Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC

ukcal
The tank is 42 litre, from memory. I fill up when mine alerts me, usually with 45 - 50 miles to go. Filling up is usually around 35 litres to the point of it clicking off.

Trewithy
My gauge was just going into the red yesterday but the low fuel light had not come on. I filled to the first shut off and put in 36.62 litres, miles to 0 was 58. I was wondering if I drove down to 0 miles to 0 is there any fuel remaining in the tank as a reserve, I don't think I will try that to find out.
