adam900331
Hy! I have a Ford Fiesta MK8 2014, but today I connect my Samsung phone via USB cable to charge my phone. But when I connect to USB my phone, the phone is detected the connection and charge, but after 1-2 second disconnect and reconnect again. It is repeated. BUT sometimes works fine.(not disconnect and reconnect.) But it is rare. If I use pendrive to listening music, works fine. Faulty the USB? But just does it phone... Very interesting! Thanks for your help.

Stoney871
The common denominator in this is the phone. Probably like mine and the port has got spread a bit by jamming the cable in when you can't see in the dark.

I plug in the cable, connect to the car and disconnected immediately. :( But I checked the voltage with multimeter, and the usb has stabil 5V... adam900331
I phoned the Ford service today and he told me that the USB is not support to recharge the phone. The Fiesta manual write the USB port has only 500mA.
jbell
They're taking the !Removed! - if everything was OK, the phone would be charging at 500mA (4x slower than your regular charger). You'd still be able to use the phone media too. I'd call them back - there's an issue there. Though first you can try resetting your bluetooth module (guide in the tutorials section)
Phil 87
Any USB port should charge a phone as far as I know. That's why the "U" stands for "universal" - it should work with any device.
MattDRX
It does charge the phone, I had a note3 with my ST and it did charge it, huge battery on that phone too. What phone is it? How do you lock your phone too? sometimes they disconnect if they have a certain security level on them, will still charge it though in the long run, it will just show as disconnecting everytime it tries to pick the data up and ends up being refused etc.
adam900331
The situation is the next: My phone type is Samsung GT-S7582. This mobile can connect and disconnect from the car via USB twice. The chrage is start after the second conncet. (But sometimes could connet for first.) My wifes phone type is Samsung Galaxy S Advance. When I connect this mobile via USB to car, the mobile notice the connection and abaut 2 second reconnect. It repeaet continuously. When I connect to our Toshiba Tablet, the charge, works fine. When I connect a USB stcik to listen music, works fine. I am very puzzled, but the Ford service said to me: The USB of Fiesta does not support the mobile charge. I think the power consumption(ampere) should be the problem. The question is that should work this way?
Phil 87
I am very puzzled, but the Ford service said to me: The USB of Fiesta does not support the mobile charge. It sounds like they are making excuses so they don't have to do anything to help you. You could try something like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/PortaPow-Charge-Block-Adapter-SmartCharge/dp/B00T0DW3F8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1431958883&sr=8-1&keywords=usb+data+block If you select the "universal" option, that is an adapter which will stop any data connection, so should help devices to charge properly. Or use a 12V (cigarette) adapter with a USB port for charging.
Matt_Guernsey
I had this problem with my Samsung phone when using a cheaper cable but when using the Samsung usb cable it works fine.
Stewie316
I pulled the radio fuse out and back in. Actually i pulled quite a few out and put them back in. When i plug my phone in via usb it will bleep three ish times and say not supported BUT it will charge. Before it would just continually loop and bleep interrupting the charge. Pull the fuse and if you are using bluetooth mode get into bluetooth before hand otherwise avoid using it while charging.
liam1412
Just wanted to make a comment with regards to Ford saying that the USB port is not for charging. I agree with them to a certain extent. I had the issue with the USB port not charging my phone or so I thought, When travelling and listening to Spotify my phone was losing power. Although it will charge your phone, as it is a U(Universal) Serial Bus connection, the limited power it puts out (500mA) is actually less than the power that is being used by your phone if everything is on on your phone (GPS, bluetooth, WIFI will be searching for connections, Mobile date, Spotify playing away) Just buy an adapter for the power socket just below the USB, and Aux input which puts out 10Amps and you will find the problem is solved.
