Rattle coming from the engine sounds like it's coming from the turbo when revving to about 2k and when the revs drop down towards idle any ideas its non of the heat shields iv took them all off and it still does it

This sounds like the same problem alexp999 has with his 1.5 Ecoboost, I have a strange noise from 2500rpm to 2800rpm, like a "tone", Ford said it was a resonance vibration noise but could not pin point it.

Does it sound like this?

That sounds turbo related, but it is doing it on throttle too.

Mine only does it off throttle. Still might be related....

Watching this with interest. If I get anywhere with my rattle I'll let you know.

When I'm driving with the window down I can here it in 1st and 2nd gear when I come of the throttle at low speeds, cheers mate like wise

Listening to that vid again there is actually two noises going on there.

On throttle you can here the tappety injectors, well known on the 1.0, which give it a diesel sound.

Off throttle you can hear the wastegate rattling slightly. This is the noise I have which is really loud and can hear even cruising at 30 in 4th.

Had anyone had any news on this rattling? Mine just been getting worse and worse I took it back to ford 2 weeks ago and they still have my car!!

I took mine in to Ford and they said it was totally fine alone with everyone else who commented on the thread I made too!

Friend at work has exactly the Same I even played the above vid and its identical she too keeps getting told its normal I have been to ford with her and argued its not normal its embarrassing to no avail ford uk contacted with no luck cars a week old so she's going to go through the finance company to have the car taken back

See I took mine ford Cus it's totally not acceptable for a new car to make this sound mine really is bad I got my car back today and they said there's nothing wrong with it.... I went off the hook not alone as them fuxking me about day in day out!, the car didn't make the noise when I brought it and I bet all the cars they took to shows and gave to auto car magazines didn't make it either!! I'm going back up tomorrow to see the managers again... A new car should not make this noise, it clearly is an abnormal noise....

Same things happen in Malaysia. Same sound and they told me this is normal and nothing wrong with it. I even watched some other videos in Taiwan car review, same sounds. So I think this is a "common" sound.

Normal, get used to it or sell it,

I've completely forgotten about the sound on mine now, it really worried me when I first got it but its just a strange characteristic of the lovely little engine.

I've not noticed any strange noises on my mum's 1.0 makes a lovely noise imo, lol.

Mine is the same as all the 1.0 ecooboost engines ive heard, and thats quite a few. Lol

any news on your 1.5 noise?

Just waiting on a reply from Hq at the moment.

To make sure the rattling noise is from turbo,

Locate the turbo actuator and stop the speaning pin on turbo actuator with your finger and if the rattling noise disappear that mean the noise is from turbo actuator. That noise for Ford opinion is Normal and Ford says Not nessisery of replacing the turbo.
