Hi All, Can anyone help ?

My 2006 Ford focus Sport estate .........only done 46,000 miles on clock ........ has developed a noise in the boot area when going over speed platform , mostly on the exit side . It sounds as if something is moving ......... thought it was my mobility walker moving at first , took it out and the noise is still there .......so, emptied the rear completely . Noise not gone . It's the only time I hear it . Live in a road with three speed platforms ! I don't speed over them .

Is your spare wheel and jack etc secured properly?

Get your exhaust checked too as it might be knocking on the floor pan.

Checked spare wheel , jack and parcel shelf ..........all ok .

Will get the exhaust checked asap .

Thanks !

Get them to check the rear suspension too then while youre there. I would take it to a couple of different places and see if they all say the same thing before handing over any cash and getting ripped off.

Could be a worn rear bush, I'd guess anti roll bar or trailing arm. You'd be surprised how quickly speed bumps eat through your suspension components.

Thanks everyone for your advice ........... I would get a few quotes anyway . It's due for mot in a few weeks, so might get that done early and go from there .

If something is knocking then definitely get the MOT done upto 1 month early to give you time to sort it if it fails. That way you will have 3-4 weeks to get it fixed before the current MOT expires. You can get 13 month MOT's to keep the anniversary date in tact.

Got mot fixed for this Wednesday , so should find out what's wrong . It's not a knocking as such , but it needs fixing asap as I rely on my car to get me about ! Thanks for the advice !

I had a similar issue, is it a rattling sound - when you're in low revs/reversing to park etc?. Get underneath and check the heat deflector for the exhaust box (looks like something you cover the Christmas turkey in). If that has movement, it's more than likley that

Check too if the tailgate latch is bouncing against the striker bar - easily fixed or ruled out with some pvc tape around the metal striker bar.

Have checked the tailgate latch....not that .

Newbie, no it's nothing like that , it's more of a sound as if there's something in the boot which slightly jumps up and back down when you go over a rough surface.......albeit a speed platform in my case . Car is fine on a smooth ''normal'' road .
