Quickie On Running Lights

Featured Replies

How come I've seen a few 64 and 15 plate focus about and they have no running lights at all ?

I thought it was mandatory.

It was only Mandatory on new design vehicles, both the focus and fiesta were design cleared before the date, leaving them still as an option

Ok thanks. Didn't realise it was down to submitting a design. Just thought after X date they had to be fitted.

Thanks

Very clever of Ford, although i'm sure if they had to fit them then the lower models would be a bulb as opposed to an LED.

I quite like my DRL's (Thanks Lenny :D)

Even better, the insurance company didn't charge me any extra for them :P

for design read "Homologation"

Did they have any lights on at all?? Not all running lights are Led like our titaniums, some look like they have just sidelights on.

No. No lights.

I only have zetec spec 2013 model ( bought new ) it has drls albeit bulbs not led.

the bulbs are stupid bright - when you switch on the rear lamps the drls switch off and are much dimmer

when you switch on the "normal" light required for after dark then the DRL's are required to switch off

you may have a dual function unit if there are two different light (Lumen) levels from the same lamp

Because the road safety argument for DRLs is nonsense and a stupid ruling that only serves supplier's pockets. Fortunately the homologation rule allows manufacturers to hold off.

Fiesta titanium and X have drL led , as well as focus the titanium x has led drl , LOWER spec fiestas just have a bulb. Focus don't have anything if lower spec , thats how i see it so far

The Fiesta ST2 & 3 have LED DRL's as well.
