Ambient Light Glove Box

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Need some advice I've recently had a used car with the ambient light missing above the glove box, ford have admitted today that this is a miss build from factory new.

I was told that this can now not be fitted, is this right?

My belief is you can buy this as a spare with wiring, like the footwell lights people have fitted them after market.

Any help would be greatly appriciated, as I'm speaking to the garage again tomorrow.

Thanks

I wouldn't be surprised if you can't fit a bulb in the glove box without taking it apart, had a quick look at how the bulb can be changed and it seems like it's difficult to get to (or impossible). I can't be sure though, I didn't get a good look at it.

He's reffering to the ambient light bar above the glove box, not the 501 type bulb inside the glove box.

The 501 bulb inside the glove box is easy enough to change, you just push the glove box sides in and the glove box pulls down out the way. Then remove the switch assembly which houses the bulb and change before refitting.

The ambient light bar can be bought as a genuine part from ford and the plug is there on the mk7.5, see this to refer to....

Easy to plug in and play using the genuine part, don't understand why ford would say it isn't. Unless you've got a used mk7 and the plug isn't always there on the loom. You would have to check :)

Hope that helps

Thanks guys mines a 13 plate fiesta, I don't understand why you can buy the part if it's not fitable?

Thanks for your help yet again feel like I'm being fobbed off saying it can't be done.

If you've got a mk7.5 then yes it can definitely be fitted.

Here's a kit on eBay, it includes the door armrest ones too though I think hence the price.

Can't find the part number for you, someone else might have it

Which fiesta have you got? I ask as not all the models come with this feature.

Part numbers are

1820761 / 1513144 / 1852047

There you go, willy had it. The zetec,titanium/titanium x and St all come with it fitted standard

Fenners you have a Zetec S right? This model didn't come with the mood light bar above the glove box mate.

Hi,

I do have the zetec s, I was told by the sales man the post face lift do have them their sales manager also said its a miss fit from factory.

I belive you guys on this one, as I'm told so many different things at ford.

Strange how they said it can't be fitted but can get a part, thanks for the part numbers.

Has anyone got a link to ford parts uk site for this part so I can send to ford.

Many thanks

Ford will have all the info on there system and will know what to order.

I fear that you will ultimately end up paying for the parts yourself as your model didn't originally have it :(

I'm very interested in this, I already knew the zetec s didn't have it prior to purchase but the salesman was taking me around the features when I picked the car up and I had to tell him that it doesn't have it. Can you actually fit these using original parts then? Never really looked into it.

I used original parts on my ZS, the one above the glovebox is an easy fit once you've located the plug.

Yes it looks like an easy fit and you can buy the spare part from ford so I'm confused,

Both sales managers have told me it should have it and its a miss build very strange!

Any idea where abouts the plug is to fit this in? Might look into doing this

I've linked a guide to find it in post number 3
