Is This Fraud ?

Featured Replies

As you know my car got stolen. My insurance company have had two quotes to replace . If i accept the same value as cash settlement ( which already agreed they will honour should i wish ) as identical fiesta will take 3 to 4 months to come along. If i am a cash buyer and take ford credit it will further reduce the car price by £950 , therefore i am in pocket as ford give this much deposit allowance. I will then pay off the loan in full before 1st payment is due once took delivery of car , I have done this already with the stolen car when i 1st bought it so i know its ok to pay up early. However will it be seen as fraud ?

There are two seperate transactions.

First you are receiving an insurance payment under the terms of your insurance.

Having accepted that, you are free to spend the money as you wish. In this case, on a car of your choice at a price and on finance terms agreed between you and the supplier.

I am, though, amazed that the insurers seem not to know the true cash replacement cost of your lost vehicle!

Lucky you.

(I found that a new car could be supplied, at the same net cost as messing with Ford finance, by using a car broker, so the true price would seem to be the Ford dealership minus £950

Buy yourself a decent tracker and a steering lock with the difference.

I heard they can bypass tracker too by blocking the signal with a device in the ciggy lighter or 12v socket ? But not sure mate

A car broker ? Who are they ? and are you still the 1st registered keeper ?

Cobblers.

Only way to block a tracker is by using a rolling frequency jammer and they cost thousands and are the size of a small suitcase.

Even if they short all the fuses in a car a tracker has it's own back up battery and will broadcast for about a week.

Well I'm liking the sound of that. How do they know the car is stolen or if i am driving it ?

As soon as you notice it gone you ring them and they activate the tracker.

With my tracker when they locate the car the monitoring company dispatches a security guard to stand over the car until it is either recovered by me or a recovery company if it's undriveable.

Have you got a link to the tracker you use stoney? :)

Was about to say that it looks tempting but I couldn't afFord the annual subscription! :(

Gives me peace of mind though.

Did you buy the last car direct from a ford dealer?

Drivethedeal and Orangewheels are car brokers, go on their site select the car and options, they then give you a price, if you accept a ford dealer will contact you. The deal is with a Ford dealer and will be the same as buying from a local dealer but without the BS and haggling. I saved £4k off RRP with drivethedeal.

Are you the 1st registered owner and still get 3 years warranty ?

Are you the 1st registered owner and still get 3 years warranty ?

I just looked at this , its 2k cheaper than their best cash price. Might give them a look in , however it states you still get car from local dealer , however i would be embarrassed to go to them if not buying. Maybe will have to arrange with somebody else lol

Everything is the same as when you bought the last car.

You could take the DTD quote into your local and see if they will match it.

Carwow is another site to try, ford dealers send you their best price.

Thanks guys , can't speak to insurance until Monday now as the claims dept is closed.

No need to be embarrassed. Its just an introduction service, but with all the BS haggling already done, and a dealer who may have some reason (eg quantity bonus) to consider in their willingness to shift the metal.

You can probably get exactly the same outcome by being up front with a dealer and showing them the "deal" available from the broker. They are well aware of their competitors! If the local dealer can nearly match the broker, you may settle for that with some convenience and "worry free" security.

More embarrassing is using the broker to get the quote with the sole intention of brandishing it before the local dealership!

Its all a game ----money and business.

My dealer has told me he can't match drive the deal. Are drive the deal a proper company etc , can they be trusted ? As they are a lot cheaper than the best quote from my local dealer by another £600

Mine was also a factory order via DTD.

Yes, once you order the supplying ford dealer contacts you and you pay a deposit.

It's exactly the same as buying from your local dealer except they have given you the best price straight away, quite a few on here have used them including myself.
