Is it a simple case of just pulling? I've tried and feels like if I apply too much pressure something is going to snap?

    Ok nevermind, removed the wheel without needing to remove the skirt caps. Was enough clearance without it catching the jack. Thanks

    I tried this once too but also found that they don't want to come off even when I pulled so hard the side skirt was bending outwards. Luckily I haven't needed to jack the car up yet but if you don't need to take the caps off then it doesn't matter. Maybe it's just certain types of jack that would need more clearance.

    Yeah it looks like there could be an issue with trolley jacks, that have a round contact point.
