2001 air con compressor seized

heard a rumbling noise for approx 2 weeks and eventually sussed it out to my air con compressor,removed the fuse which brought in the air con-ok i can live without it-we never had id b4,any way came out to my car last sunday and it wouldnt start ,to cut a long story short my compressor for the air con had seized up solid,managed to get it to my mates garage and eventually after trying many belts he managed to bypass the air-con unit,i can live without it ,and believe it or not my diesel mpg has gone up and the car itself seems to drive and react more efficiently,i thought i would put this up on here,cos i have just bought the car(just out of warrenty)and didnt need the extra expense,so if you can live without aircon,here is a cheap way round it!!!!!!! ::
