Hey guys,

Tried fitting a k&n Xstreme air filter to my Focus ST-2 TDCi , got about 200m and then the turbo began to fail and the car was crying for an immediate service.

How do i tackle this problem?!

Cheers!

Ben

I have only seen a clip from youtube where the owner mentioned cutting 2mm off the rubber seal and his is working fine.

Can it be that simple?

Hi

Turbo failing from an air filter, nah, sounds like a manufacturing defect on the turbo,

Different engine but i have a Green cotton filter on my 1.6 116ps tdci (2013) and i have covered 22500 miles with it

It works perfectly fine with the original air filter in, but when i swap the K&N in the revs dont go up, the turbo doesnt kick in, Wont get past 50 mph even on a mile long straight

Hi Ben

Has it been mega over oiled perhaps thus strangling the engine

Sounds more like its getting too little air. Sure the K&N isnt blocked in some way and that all the sensors are still connected and plugged in

Had a K&N on mine since I got it, no problems at all, nor on my last 5 cars that have all had K&N's and most have done 200k+ miles
