Ben_ashe
Hey guys, Tried fitting a k&n Xstreme air filter to my Focus ST-2 TDCi , got about 200m and then the turbo began to fail and the car was crying for an immediate service. How do i tackle this problem?! Cheers! Ben
Ben_ashe
I have only seen a clip from youtube where the owner mentioned cutting 2mm off the rubber seal and his is working fine. Can it be that simple?
james_60
Hi Turbo failing from an air filter, nah, sounds like a manufacturing defect on the turbo, Different engine but i have a Green cotton filter on my 1.6 116ps tdci (2013) and i have covered 22500 miles with it Jamie
Ben_ashe
It works perfectly fine with the original air filter in, but when i swap the K&N in the revs dont go up, the turbo doesnt kick in, Wont get past 50 mph even on a mile long straight
james_60
Hi Ben Has it been mega over oiled perhaps thus strangling the engine thats all i can think of tbh Jamie
madmole
Sounds more like its getting too little air. Sure the K&N isnt blocked in some way and that all the sensors are still connected and plugged in Had a K&N on mine since I got it, no problems at all, nor on my last 5 cars that have all had K&N's and most have done 200k+ miles
