MONDEO TXS 2.2
Try a high engine revolution 30 odd mile blast to see if you can initiate either a passive or active regeneration - this is not so much road speed but engine speed, you must keep the revs high to generate the heat the dpf needs to regenerate, so use 3rd & 4th not 5th & 6th
TomsFocus
No 6th on these anyway, have to be revving it's nuts off to hold a high road speed lol... Was it definitely soot acculumation not ash accumulation? If it is soot it needs a forced regeneration, you can try doing it yourself by pushing the car fairly hard, when it's warm get it over 3k rpm in 3rd or 4th and it should kick in a regen, watch the average mpg display and you should see it start dropping quickly, the engine fan will also come on if you can hear it over the engine noise, and you may see smoke from the exhaust if you don't have window tints. This 'should' last for 10 minutes or so regardless of how you're driving unless you stop completely. Bare in mind the 'should's because it relies on a few variables. If that doesn't work, a garage can do it electronically with their handheld scanner, I don't know the cost though. If it's ash accumulation (more likely with the age) then it needs replacing, there is no alternative really and trying to force a regen is likely to cause more damage, particularly to the turbo.
