Brake Light Bulb Replacement

Hi all,

my offside brake light bulb had gone, tried replacing this yesterday however I just could not remove the wingnuts... is there any knack to doing this or do i need to hit the gym a bit more...

Might just take it Halfords but if anyone can recommend anything would be much appreciated.

I use a wide bladed screwdriver.

Put the screwdriver into the slot on the end of the wingnut, press the side of the light cluster with the palm of your hand to relieve tension and turn the screwdriver just enough to release the initial tightness.

Unscrew the rest of the way by hand.

There is a metal pin holding the side of the cluster in place a couple of inches in from the point end on the side of the lens.

I find that hooking a length of flat boot lace or string under the point and sliding back towards the pin gives you something to pull and help pop the pin out of the wing.

Be careful as the pin is bare metal and can scratch paint.

Refit in reverse giving the wingnuts a last twrak with the screwdriver to temove any chance of rattling.

Be very careful as the wingnut slots are prone to breaking (I damaged two dwapping reverse and indicator bulbs) but spares are inexpensive.

Also don't drop the wingnut into the corners of the car as you'll never find them again, stick a cloth under the wingnuts so they have something to drop onto.
