antward91
Just had a phone call about my 2010 zetec s being serviced, it's done 37k miles, they said it needs new spark plugs , pollen filter, brake fluid and a flush in the engine? Is this all normal?
WES180
Brake fluid change is normally recommend every 2 years and ive never seen the engine flush listed in the schedule. 3yr service i would expect plugs, air filter, oil and filter and odour/pollen filter change. If you go on Ford Etis you can see the Ford service schedule. Also, if you put your reg or VIN number in you can see your car build information. http://www.etis.ford.com/fordservice/serviceScheduleForm.do
antward91
Thanks mate, he said the flush was to keep the fuel filter clean as it is a lifetime fuel filter that does not ever need replacing? I've only had the car a year so I don't know if the plugs have ever been changed so I suppose it is normal to have them replaced now. I've told him not to bother with the pollen filter as it was £45 plus vat which seemed over he top to me
WES180
I think they are trying to have your pants down mate! Buy a pollen filter and fit it yourself. antward91
Told them not to fit it mate, came to £262 for full service and mot, new spark plugs, new brake fluid and engine flush . How hard is it to get to the pollen filter yourself?

MONDEO TXS 2.2
If they are putting engine flush into the fuel system I'd be very, very afraid

MONDEO TXS 2.2
Ye Gods ! No such thing as a lifetime oil filter either I do understand what you mean now tho & would advise against the engine oil flush as they often do more harm than good i.m.o. antward91
I wouldn't normally have one mate as I'd been told the same by quite a few people, when he phoned to say it needed spark plugs etc he had already done the flush which I thought was taking the pee slightly

MONDEO TXS 2.2
BUT, I'd rather have an empty wallet than a sore derriere caused by being repetitively shafted by a stealer
Dee_82
how much!? Is that ford or an Indy? lol save the cash, buy a Haynes manual, some jack stands a few tools do the job yourself then pop down to the pub for a few with the change you'll have left out of that 260 quid! With the exception of the brakes an perhaps a fuel filter anyone that can read a book will have no bother doing those items.
antward91
Not sure what you'd class them as, a franchise with around 12 branches in the notts area. I did used to fo things like this myself but with the car I brought having a full service history I thought it was best to keep it up to date in the book . My mistake lol
