Engine Id Location

Hi all

Can someone please tell me where to find the engine ID on the engine. I've googled it and all I can find is something like "it's on the engine block".

I know it's part of the VIN, but I want to see it on the engine itself, just to make sure.

thanks in advance

@ferretfloozy - thanks for the response, it pointed me in the right direction!

If anyone else is looking for the engine number on the DuraTorq engine, it's immediately above where the gearbox is bolted to the engine block. I found I could only see if by removing the fuel filter.

It's etched directly onto the engine block and follows this format XXXX NqNNNNN

Where

XXXX is the engine code. for example, the 1.8DuraTorq is KKDA

NqNNNNN is the Serial number and should match the last 7 characters of your VIN.

(Extra credit: the first digit is the year of manufacture, the "q" is a letter than represents the month and the remainder is the actual serial number)

cheers

Thank you

It's all in the engine code (sometimes referred to as engine number) or vehicle identification number (VIN). You can find the VIN in the lower corner of your windscreen. In the series of numbers and letters, the tenth from the left denotes the model year and the eighth is the engine code.
