Omendata Posted December 11, 2015 Share Posted December 11, 2015 Did you swap the injector over to cylinder one and see if the misfire then occurs in cylinder 1? When a misfire occurs, engine speed will fluctuate. If the engine speed fluctuates enough to cause the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor signal to vary, the Engine Control Module (ECM) can determine that a misfire is occurring. Might be the CPS or a wire near the CPS causing an EMF leak! If fuel is missing from any one specific engine cylinder, it will misfire. fuel system problems could include some of the following: BAD fuel injectors. Broken fuel injector connector (this is a very, very common problem). Electrical short in the fuel injector wires that are keeping the fuel injector pulse signal from reaching the fuel injector. This is usually the result of human error and after a major mechanical repair where the wiring harness was damaged. BAD fuel injection computer not pulsing the fuel injector (this is a very rare condition, but it happens). BAD fuel pump. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I doubt the cat would cause a misfire on a single cyclinder for this long without causing the others to follow.. but it won't be healthy Can't comment on the compression to be honest. Who knows what he has done it all seems very strange - nothing correlates - Maybe he is having us on as someone has just posted an exactly identical post under another name! I have changed all injectors from a donor car, I am not 100% sure what cylinder is misfiring. It was number 2 at first but since I changed all the basic parts (coil pack, plugs etc) the fault code hasn't come up again. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
CG1996 Posted January 18, 2016 Author Share Posted January 18, 2016 In the end I took it to an independent Ford specialist and he did a scope test on it which shown that the coil pack was at fault. So he fitted an "uprated" NGK coil pack and it's now running as sweet as a nut. Thanks to those who genuinely tried to help me, just a shame that there seems to be some smart ar**s on here.
