bwoody Posted December 30, 2015 Share Posted December 30, 2015 Popped into the supermarket today, parked front end into a space facing a hedge, no cars anywhere near me either side and somehow when I get back to the car there is a guy standing there saying is this your car? as he has crashed into it. I have no idea how he managed it as he had moved his car by this point, at least he had the decency to wait about and own up to it. Broken rear fog light, very light scratches below the light on the bumper that should polish out. Thing i'm more bothered about is I think the bumper has moved a bit too, looks better than pic now after messing about with it. Gutted, only had the car a bit over a month and 700 miles. Just got the interior the way I wanted it and was looking forward to giving the car a full detail when I got a decent day of weather. Why can't people be more careful!! Need to play about with it a bit more, a couple of small bits of paint to touch up and a few fine scratches to polish out when it eventually stops raining. The other day there were 3 cars going the wrong way, just me facing the right way, had to admit defeat and give up that time as if I was in the wrong! I have also seen people reverse along the arrows so they're still facing the right way. I don't know who designs some of these car parks though, there are a few shop car parks here where it takes longer to get out of the car park than it does to buy whatever your getting! Plus one has spaces right up to the main central 'road' to get out. People with huge cars or vans usually take those spaces so theres no chance of seeing whether theres anyone coming until you've edged so far out it'd be too late anyway! <_< As for door dents/creases, I'm always picking them up as I'm a lazy bugger and park as close to the door as possible (if it was a new car that'd be different!) so I tend to squeeze into tiny spaces that other people won't attempt. Not had any car park bumps so far though, one of my mates got hit twice in the same car park in a week last year, talk about unlucky lol. The second is definitely caused by a zip/somebody brushing past and I think the first is somebody dropping something on it/sitting on it as neither were there when I got the car. Got to give it its first clean Saturday (weather been awful!) so will see the full damage then. Can easily get the dent removed but just worried the scratch will show as I get annoyed when I know there are imperfections there. Luckily I don't think the scratch is too deep so should polish out....hopefully. Yeh luckily I sent a picture of the dent to a guy I know who said its doable. My girlfriend was like "You cant even notice it unless you look at it"... the point is, I like to look at it (when its clean) as I like to keep things as new as possible and take care of things! With regards to the scratch, I just hope its very shallow one meaning i could try and polish it out. If its deeper then I dont know what to do. (SMART repairs never end well, and respray of panels can be expensive/different colours) But when i know something is there, it constantly annoys me until its no longer there. That's maybe why I tend to treat every other road/carpark user as an _astard and treat'em with contempt whilst I expect their complete disregard of everyone else. One time I was turning into a carpark space from the correct (arrow) direction when some _astard came the wrong way and nipped in whilst holding up 2 fingers. 50+ years of driving has taught me to treat everyone as complete, selfish morons and to expect anything. You won't go far wrong. Then there's the "oldbie" (i'm an oldbie), pootling along at maybe 20mph (or Mark in his ST). Should be safe, you think. Not a bit of it, he's chatting with his passenger escort, look at those flowers, really pretty, just like you, fancy a _hag? Thats where there are people trying to park a huge car with no visibilty with 3/4/5 kids whining/moaning/squealing in the back. Usually parked forwards as well so have to try and reverse out without hitting cars on the other side or even in the road lol. The space I choose is at the end I car park closet to a wall (child spaces are huge) to ma passenger side so there is about 2.5-3m between me and other car And in fact it wasnt a child. Carrying car that did it it was a Audi TTs brand new old bald guy with glasses no kids who deicided to park over my line ..............
