Focus Versus C Max.

As you know, I have a Focus 3.5 with the 1.0 litre 125 engine. Kerb weight 1280 Kg

I was thinking about same engine in a C Max. Kerb Weight 1391 Kg

That amounts to carrying an extra 17.5 stone passenger.

The grand C Max kerb weight is 1493 Kg.

I do wonder about these high-ish output, low capacity engines' longevity sometimes in heavy vehicles - i recently saw a brand new MK 5 Mondeo with a 1.0 ltr ecoboost engine ( unknown bhp ) advertised . . .

I'd rather have larger capacity, lower revving & even excessive pulling power than not enough.

Older mondeo had 1600 125hp engine, that was an engine that shouldn't have gone in mondeo also.

I just had a look on the Ford website and checked the new Mondeo. It only lists .....

1.5 EcoBoost

2.0 EcoBoost

1.6 Diesel

2.0 Diesel

2.0 Hybrid

Have they stopped putting the 1.0 in now ?.

The Mondeo kerb Weight varies from 1485 Kg to 1609 Kg.

This was a brand new 65 plate with the 1.0 ecoboost ( i now know it to be 125 bhp / ps as Ian states )

Desperately underpowered i.m.o.

Reviews I've read seems to say it's adequate, wonder how efficient it is though...

Reviews aren't always the truth of the matter & only Nuns want a car that is merely ''adequate'' . . . :)

125 ps / bhp in a car that size & weight can only result in a less than engaging experience i.m.o.
