Im new the this, ive just traded my 2007 focus 1.8 tdci with 160k on in for 2008 mondeo 1.8 tdci edge 100ps with 93k on, the mpg are crap compared to the focus, and the miles to empty keeps jumping down by about 10 miles everytime i start her up and then slowly climbing back up is this normal??? But i love the mondeo!

Yep that's normal for start ups and as the Mondeo is a heavier car so yes the economy will be worse

I knew it would be slightly worse due to it being same engine as focus and mondeo being heavier car, think last time i looked think it was 42mpg on the computer, and ive only had car since saturday,

Fuel computers are not always accurate - use the brim to brim method & calculate over 2 or 3 tankfuls & that will give you very accurate m.p.g. figures

At this point, the previous will still be influencing average figures on the dash display, so you need to give it longer (and, if you bought it from a dealer, they may have moved it around their lot quite a bit, so that would make it worse, too).
