morning dew on side windows...!

hi once again, finding out new things as each day comes by.

is it a common problem that to remove the morning dew on the side windows of my focus (2008) you have to wipe it off?

i have noticed that when you lower the windows the rubber at the top of the door does not remove any, whereas on my mondeo it cleared 90% of it

is there a way to remedy it?

real shame to have a heated front screen and you have to use paper towelling to clear the sides lol

Yes, it's so annoying!!  Though I'm too lazy to wipe it off, I just put the windows down and drive off...

I would imagine it's an age thing as they should be tight against the window...or at least were in the last 30 cars I've bought lol....

good grief man , just keep a sponge squeegee handy in your drivers door pocket , hardly a crisis is it ?

whatever happened to the british stiff upper lip in the face of adversity......

I'm with you Joe,it is annoying. It's possible you have something in your car that's moisture related. Also you can buy dehumidifiers for cars, you could give one of them a try.Good ventilation is the key when driving your car then when you use it again the next day all might be well, just a few thoughts.

Its the outside dew that's the problem here, Richard.

Lol, Pete, it is a bit of a 1st world problem but annoying when most cars clear by just dropping the windows.  Defeats the purpose of the heated screen if you're carrying window tools and wasting time demisting the sides lol.

its just frustrating, i dont want to keep a sponge squeegee  in the drivers pocket, i didnt have to with my 2003 mondeo (maybe because it was a ghia)

still i guess i'm with you tom, just drop the windows and drive off.

i just thought that things are meant to improve as time goes by from a design point of view, not be worse.

I'm sure it's just a design flaw in the Mk2.5, nothing to do with spec lol.  What worries me though, is that if the window 'scraper' isnt tight against the window there must be a reasonable amount of water getting inside the doors.  I know they have drain holes at the bottom and expect to get some water in there, but a lot can't be good for it surely!

most of the water drains into the doors second its due to the design the window is curved and only creates a seal when fully closed age and rubbers have nothing to do with it as said another annoying ford design issue

Side windows are always curved, or at least have been on anything I've broken up post '99 lol.  There must be a really simple fix for it that Ford missed originally, taller more flexible rubbers or something!

Yeah it does clear if you drive fast enough, people object to driving at 60 through town though... :P

most car windows do have a curve but the door doesnt the ford however has a curved door and curved glass so the second you start to put it down the seal is no longer making contact i had looked at various ways of doing it but the design makes it impossible no matter what rubbers you look at the curve gets so large that youde need 3 inch thick rubbers even then you wouldnt get the window back up its annoying reversing out the drive as you cant see a thing through the side windows

You could put a car cover over but it's probably more of a faff then wiping the window,ha ha. Does anyone use a garage anymore?

i have tried the hand on the window as it goes down ippy, but no good, maybe i'll try the gem polish i have on the side windows, (thx trewithy) sounds like that may work

Or buy a small squeegee and wipe your windows with that. Which is what I did. Except the dew comes back 30 seconds later again as soon as you start moving.

Oh this bugs me too lol,

I usually just wipe it clear with my hand, I don't want wet items inside the car creating condensation later.

Sometimes I still put the windows down in the hope it clears, it did it just fine in my old Escort.

Yup! Purely a window cleaning thing, also good for the snow we had but needs wiping before and after (to avoid the above).
