Hello!

Sorry if i bother

I need some help.I want to replace my instrument cluster from a ford Focus mk2 year 2005 1.6 Ti-Vct 85kw without bord computer with a new instrument cluster from a ford Focus mk2 facelift 2009 1.6,donor car.I saw that a job like this was done with forscan. Can you tell me exactly what steps i have to follow?I have elm327 v1.5 interface espacialy for ford..forscan 2.2.11..elconfig...After mounting the facelift instrument cluster from another car and after reconecting ground and power to battery what steps i should exactly follow?Anyone has ever done this job?

I found some help instruction and it looks like this :

General workflow is:

1.Install new IC

2. Installed latest version of FORScan with Extended License, if not installed yet 3. Program 2 keys in the new IC using Programming PATS service function->Erase, Programming PATS service function->Add key

4. Pair new IC with PCM using Programming PATS service function->Module Initialization

5. Adjust new IC configuration using ELMConfig

But what exactly meens pair new IC with PCM and how to adjust new IC configuration?

Thank you in advance

Are both clusters from a diesel, and the rev range the same?

You need ELMConfig and FoCom, FORScan as far as I'm aware is unable to do Pats coding, which is required in order to do this.

You start be copying the setting from you old cluster and moving them over the new cluster and then programming it to the pats.

Once you confirmed you have the required stuff then I or another member will details on how you go about doing this.

Seems FORScan is able to do this according to a quick Google search.

Its not something I have used but same layout, Personally I use Focom.

You still however need a outcode/incode calculator to do this.

This one is free but you need to sign up and http://www.autokeyprog.com/login.php ) which can be used after registration but this calculator is very limited. After a few calculations the calculator is locked and you have to wait 1 day to use it again...

Just confirm you have the correct cluster rev range and its from the same fuel type as the car. You cannot get a petrol and put it on a diesel, just won't happen.

Yes..both cluster are the same..i meen i have a petrol car from 2005 and the instrument cluster from the donor car(2009 facelift version) is also for petrol.

This version of FORscan 2.2.11 is able for PATS programing with full acces for a period of time(has a promgram for calculate the single and dual code incode)

With elm327 v1.5 i saved some config from my cluster but not all of them(some from MS/CAN and some from HS/CAN) because i suppose that those ones that i couldnt save are not "options "on my car.I will tell you more exatly tomorrow what was saved.

I didn't understand when i have to load the configs from the old to the new IC (instrument cluster). Before or after erasing and programming the keys ?..

i have to program a key(total 3=2 programed on the new IC and 1 from the old IC)and then erase all..or i just erase and program the keys i have from the old IC?

No, A Mondeo MK4 instrument cluster will not work on a Focus MK2/MK2.5. The connector is the same so the Mondeo Instrument cluster can be connected end will even light up after the ignition is switched on. However it will not work because it communicates by a different speed CANbus network. The Mondeo MK4 instrument cluster communicates by the MS (Mid Speed) CANbus network. The Focus MK2/MK2.5 instrument cluster communicates by the HS (High Speed) CANbus network.

A MK2.5 instrument cluster can be installed into a MK2 without any problems. Technically there are only 2 different MK2.5 instrument cluster types. Petrol and Diesel. All MK2/MK2.5 Petrol instrument clusters are compatible. The same for Diesel instrument clusters. A MK2.5 RS instrument cluster will work fine on a MK2  1.4 Duratec.

It is important that the instrument cluster is configured correctly. This ca be done by saving the configuration of the old instrument cluster and loading it into the new instrument cluster. On a MK2.5 instrument cluster it is important to select the MK2.5 specific "Clock" function.

After the new instrument cluster has been configured correctly the PATS keys need to programmed into the new instrument cluster and the new instrument cluster needs to be paired with the PCM (PATS pairing or PATS initialization). This can be done with any Ford specific diagnostic system/software that supports this function. For example the Ford IDS system, the FoCom diagnostic system or the Forscan software.

Note that the mileage of the new instrument cluster can only be changed upwards easily. The mileage of the new instrument cluster must be lower than the car. If the mileage of the new instrument cluster is higher than the car it can only be changed downwards by a specialist which in most cases will charge big money for this.

Also note that the MK2.5 instrument cluster is partly adaptive. During time some functions of the instrument cluster adapt to the car. For example the mileage to empty. On the MK2 instrument cluster the low fuel warning light an warning message are activated at fixed values. On the MK2.5 instrument cluster this function is adaptive. The low fuel warning light is activated by the instrument cluster at a value that is calculated by the instrument cluster. This value is based on previous and current driving conditions and fuel comsumption. The memory of these adaptive functions can not be erased. It the instrument cluster is installed in a different car it will still use the memory values of the car it was originally installed in. In some cases the low fuel warning light will be activated at a unrealistic value (150 Miles left for example). The instrument custer will adapt to the new vehicle but this can take a long time (the higher the mileage the longer it takes to adapt).

I wonder, would the MK4 Mondeo cluster fit and work in a focus mk2.5? I like the long screen and larger type face on the Mondeo IC

im going to be installing the longer lcd screen one in my Focus 2.5 hopefully.ive replaced for normall one as i messed up the circuit board.

i cant go into to much detail as i was giving a how to from someone and cant give it out.hopefully the lovely fellow might help.you never know

You copy the config first from the old cluster

Plug in the new cluster and copy settings over. You will notice even after doing this the car won't start.

This is then when you program the keys and pair the modules.

As stated above make sure you enable clock function on the new cluster.

Should i worry about this?

Monitor Testing Not Complete The on board diagnostic II (OBD II) monitors are performed during the OBD II Drive Cycle. The DTC will be stored in continuous memory if any of the OBD II monitors do not complete. Vehicle is new from the factory battery or PCM had recently been disconnected An OBD II monitor failure had occurred before completion of an OBD II drive cycle PCM DTCs have recently been cleared with a scan tool PTO circuit is shorted to VPWR or B+ or PTO is on during testing The DTC does not need to be cleared from the PCM except to pass an inspection/maintenance test.

Maybe this code is a "step " to allow the PCM to relearn

When the battery has been disconnected and connected, the stored idle and drive values contained within the powertrain control module (PCM) will have been erased. The following steps must be carried out to allow the PCM to relearn its idle and drive values. Start and run the engine at idle for three minutes.

2. When the engine reaches normal operating temperature, increase the engine speed to 1200 rpm and maintain for approximately two minutes.

3. Drive the vehicle for approximately five miles/eight kilometers of varied driving.

4. Motion Autolock

5. One-Touch Window Reset

Untill now almost everything is ok

Only instantaneous fuel consumption value drives me crazy.

ex at 12 refresh appears like this : 0.6-1.2l/h

at 10 refreash appears like this : 0.8-1.6l/h

at 8 appears like this :0.9-1.8l/h

I tried it all

When i'm driving with 90km/h constant the instantaneous consumption appears like this 6/7/2/12/8/3 etc :-))

The next step is to update the HEC rom level from 230 to 509 but i have to choose from 509full 509 temp or just 509

Which one should i choose ?

my understanding is that you can do that as long as the key you buy has the correct type of chip in it.  there are different models of chip eg. 4d63 80bit , 4d60 40 bit etc.

I do not know what you need or how you tell what is in the key you buy.
