Mk 3 Focus buying tips?

Hello all,

I'm quite new to Ford, have been driving for over 30 years. I may be rejecting my 64 plate Fiesta (ecoboost) or exchanging it for another car of similar cost. Due to suffering from continuous running problems & safety issues.. Long story, posted in the Fiesta forum.

Fortunately I'm not totally put off Ford, put this down to buying a pup. I'm considering a 1.0t, 1.6t or a 1.6d Focus around the 2012-14 reg's. Manual in the Titanium spec. Any tips? When you turn off the s/s, does it stay off until you press the dash button again or just until your next restart? Thinking about general reliability too.

Many thanks.

I personally wouldn't buy a diesel unless you are running frequent long journeys and I like to go for a high specification.

And a manual!!

And as for stop start, you have to switch it off every time if you dont like it.

I've owned an Astra 2.0cdti in the past with a dpf. I only cover 8-10k a year. Didn't have any issues with the dpf, as I made sure I did at least one long journey a week. Although that engine was a big lump, took up to 10 miles to fully warm up.

Thanks for info. Yes I'll be going for a manual. Will never own a powershift transmission again, my first auto too.

Most modern cars seem to be set up that way now with the s/s.

As above, don't buy a diesel, unless you really need one.

1.0 125ps would be my choice!

Agreed! Very happy with mine. Try to get as much for your money. I wouldn't get anything less than a Titanium personally. Just depends what sort of features you like.

With an ELM dongle and focccus software you can turn of the stop/start totally

I shall. Once I've got my fiesta sorted. Either an exchange or refund. May be a bit of a battle.

Suppose the dealer could do this too.

They wont. Its required for it to meet their Euro 5 rating on the engines
