Hi

Auto or manual?

I am not sure on the modern  auto box but the autos of old had a form of clutch,  an auto box is expensive to repair but so is a manual dep on prob. Do you like the control a manual gives or do you want the easy drive of the auto, do you do lots of stop start city driving?

As a thought you got about 265 miles per £ to me that's good in the past I have known clutches to only last about 60-80000 miles.

To me it is a decision that you need to make on other factors, eg how much running cost if man and auto side by size spec n toys, not just cost of one part, if that is your main factor buy a ka parts are cheer lol,

Hope this has helped

Chris

The Mk4.5 uses a wet dual clutch (Getrag)  and the cost to replace is more than the manual. I've a power shift auto (petrol) Mk 4.5 and it's a great box but needs to have the fluid changed every 37.5k or 3 years costing between £200 -£300 depending on the dealer. There's lots of info on this over on the Mk4 forum at talkford.com as well as the durability of the box. I hope this of some help.

I used to have a CMAX with a triptonic gearbox. It was OK, but its not the same driving experience. These gearboxes are not really the right ones for me to be auto. I would always recommend manual, unless you have health ailments.
