hi just a query, my new exhaust has what i imagine is a silencer as in picture, can this be removed with a replacement pipe which may help sound and performance or will it do harm

Personally I think removing the silencer will make it too loud, it may sound as if your car has got no exhaust, my twin system has got only one silencer and I wouldn't fancy removing it, doesn't it sound  good as it is? What make is it?

I had longlife exhaust fitted at Tony Banks exhausts in Leeds 2 weeks ago same system as pictured but no silencers just cat back and got to admit it's not as noisey as expected it to be but been advised when I have downpipe and dummy cat done might require a silencer then will see what it sounds like

cheers, my plan is too get de-cat fitted so maybe keeping the silencer is a good thing or take silencer out and keep standard cat, not sure, cant see it being that noisy on a diesel if remove them both

I've got a 1.6 tdci ST rep. I made up a similar exhaust to the one in your picture

i had no silencers what so ever & a de cat.

it wasn't overly loud but it did sound like a Subaru Impreza sometimes !

i ended up putting a silencer In as the rumble ended up getting on my wick on long drives
