It was 'juddering' under load for a couple of weeks before it went in for the clutch/flywheel (wanted to wait and see if the two were related). After I got it back it just got worse and worse, as soon as you hit around 2k rpm it just started shaking, above 3k it would die down again. Took it in and the diesel 'specialists' plugged in to all the injectors and they were all going, went to drive away (to get a second opinion which I'm glad I did) and they must have done something as all of a sudden diesel smoke out of the rear etc! Turns out in the end, the fuel pump had started to let go and little bits of brass from it where getting into the injectors. Glad I didn't just go ahead and get the injectors done as it would have just kept happening (Ford wanted £450/injector x4!!). Have since swapped it for a 62 plate Ecoboost with 27k miles, hopefully will last for some time now!

At the moment its going well. Does some odd things, vibration/miss at about 1900rpm but its done it since I bought it at 50k. egr valve has been blanked since 60k, and now doesn't work (I removed the blank, it was terrrible, I put it back!). Don't like to think about the DPF - I've not touched it, so its done 144k on the same juice. I do a lot of miles, but I assume at some point it will stop working? That's an impressive mileage on the original DPF! Does it regen alot now it's older or less? I had a peugeot 207 hdi with the 1.6 lump and that had 120k on the clock and the fluid bag was replaced and the management lights were always coming on. Took it to peugeot and they quoted over £1000 to sort it, New dpf,New glow plugs,New fluid bag etc, needless to say it was traded in quickly.......

DPF may have been 'fixed' at the same time if so... Mine had to be replaced before 50k. If not, it's most likely a coated DPF. The Eolys additive ones don't last that long because burning the additive itself adds to the blockage in the filter (brilliant idea lol). The 2.0's seem to run hotter and have less of an issue with DPFs though, so if it's been a motorway car for it's whole life may well be good on the original DPF for a while yet.
carl325
Talking of remapping, what's the general consensus on remapping a 2.0 tdci with the Powershift box and coated Dpf? As my car has such a low mileage and no dual mass flywheel to worry about I'm thinking of getting it mapped. Any of you guys mapped your's? madmole
Spider Arachnid tuning chip, then you can select which level of tune you want each day from ECO, through 4 fast road settings and race. It retunes itself 20,000 times a second to your car (rather than the one fixed map) and completely removable for servicing etc. Put one on my 1.6 tdci at 9,000 miles and love it. Economy has shot up over the last 12,000 miles and I leave it at Fast Road 4 all the time. Love the extra torque
adeeb458
A bit late to the party.. but oh well 63 Focus with 1.6 TDCI Econetic, was bought at 28k and now just under 47k. Doing mostly motorway miles over weekends, and country lanes during the week for work. No mods yet. Very please with the fuel economy. Tdci-Peter
1.8 TDCI (proper Ford engine, not French dodgy job, & no DPF). Seems more reliable than the 1.6. 155k miles, still going very nicely. (Touch wood) Ex police car, they did most of the mileage, I do about 7k a year. Averages 48 mpg in WInter, 51mpg in Summer. Thats with little m/way, lots of little lanes, and towing a heavy trailer almost once a week. (about 25% of the total must be with trailer). Masses of Torque, superb available power, lovely to drive. Much more powerful in use than my 2l Vauxhall (Petrol). Sorry, did I just use the "V" word, I will say 27 hail Fords in recompense! Lots of tyre problems (that's the local roads fault, not the car), Leaking coolant header tank, EGR actuator problems (no cost fix), Heater Fan resistor (£5), Starter motor Solenoid (£21), IC failure (no cost fix), new cam belt as a precaution (£300), 13 month oil changes, bit of rust (Phosphoric acid & Waxoyl), etc. So been pretty good value so far. More powerful, more economical, nicer to drive, better load capacity (boot & towing), then any previous car I have had. I can not complain. Edited June 9, 2016 by Tdci-Peter Add Startter motor!

The missus has a 1.2 "eco" ibiza (hahaha... ECO!!!) and you do sometimes get the smell from a regen. Never noticed it on mine. Well based on the above, I guess it may well be disabled. I bought it at 51k, and after a bit of an argument both ways with the place that sold it about a vibration, I kept it. Still vibrates weirdly now, but no worse. My point is that I'd be very surprised if it has been disabled. Would you bother on your less than 50k car? Did all 2.0 136's on the facelift have a DPF? Maybe I'm worrying over nothing. It's a constant fear haha.. be nice to cross one possible melt down off the list. I guess I'm now into injector fail time but fingers crossed its all good. It's not all motorway miles, but I very very rarely do short journeys. Ford ECO mode on the dash sometimes tells me 90% of my journeys are with a cold engine.... which is true, but they're all 60 miles minimum haha. Can't do everything... It's the 1.8 tddi, I bought it on 43k and its done mostly motorway miles. The original rack just had a notch in it ( and failed the mot). It was replaced and the seals on the replacement went last week so I'm now on rack 2. also remembered it has had a new starter motor too 😞.
