Markb55
Hi all I'm having timing belt kit done Wed, when I booked it in I asked for the water pump to be done as well but they told me my pump doesn't run off the timing belt, my car is a 2006, 1.6 is the garage correct. Cheers guys
iantt
they are correct that the water pump does not run off the timing belt, but the timing belt tensioner fits to the pump housing so if your water pump requires replacing in the future you will need timing belt off again, therefore a new belt again. all the covers have to come off again etc. so i would advise on a waterpump being fitted so it gives you piece of mind that it should last until the next belt change
Christianiani
Hi Mark. I would agree with the garage if it's a Petrol. If you've got a 1.6 diesel though it does run off the Timing/Cam belt. Hope this helps!
