Seatbelt Chimes

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Got an issue with the seat belt that started happening this morning!

My partner got out of the car - as I drove off the seat belt chime started going off & wont stop!

When the seat belt is plugged in it stops, but once you unplug the seatbelt it starts making the warning sound/sign again.

Anybody experienced this before or know of any fix - its driving me up the wall & ford cant see me for a while!

Thanks,

Connor

There are pressure sensors in/under the two front seats, check that there are no loose wires under the passenger seat.

Failing that you could try disabling the chime altogether. There are various methods posted here depending on the age of the vehicle. I disabled mine with a click/unclick buckle 9 times method but can't remember the details. Sorry to be vague but I found my method via a search.

Try this for starters: http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/26768-seat-belt-beeper/

Good luck

I disabled mine like that as well - the instructions were easy enough to find on the internet, maybe even this site.  This doesn't fix your problem directly but a good work-around.

Any idea what the pressure sensors look like at all or make the loose wiring correct?

Sorry no. I just know they are there and that's how the system knows to chime the warning. When it's working properly no bum on seat no chime. Look under the seat to see if there's a connector disconnected. More likely than loose wires I would think. Sorry about my 'loose wires' reference in my first reply.

I've just had a look at mine but mine's got heated seats so there's a few wires, black boxes and connectors. It would be very obvious if anything had got disconnected though. Raise the seat as far as possible (does your passenger seat raise?) and push together any connectors you can see/reach.

Failing that it's disable the chime or wait for Ford I suppose.

I've had a look underneath the seat but nothing seems out of place.

Thanks for all your help/looking but I guess I'll have to wait to take it to ford.

It did stop for about 10 minutes earlier today but then bought itself back a few hours later.. Annoyingly!

Cheers,

Connor

My seat belt chimes have stopped working /warning me since yesterdays service, @Stoney871 sorted the 'bonnet open' problem,  now this, any ideas?

Do all other warning noises still work eg. lights on after engine stopped, indicators etc - there is a speaker behind the dashboard for all that which can stop working.  If it is just the seat belt warning it could be loose connection or a sensor as noted above but if it was me I would just leave it - I purposely deactivated mine as it was just annoying.
