radio reception

I have been trying to improve my radio reception by installing a signal amplifier, but so far no luck.

The last one i tried greatly improved the FM reception but i had no AM signal at all just very loud static.

is there any one can advise on any other ways that i can improve the reception.

Pretty sure the Focus already has an amplifier built in to be honest. You've got a MK2.5 right? Why not retrofit DAB instead?

thanks for the advise but i have an after market GPS just installed. how would i convert to DAB radio, i do not want to change this one as it is new

Ok this works 

remove the light in the roof under where the aerial is fixed undo the bolt which fixes the aerial and fix under it some copper wire(I used solder type wire ) any will work.next undo the earth bolt for the light next to it and put the other end of the copper wire under that fasten the bolts back up tight put your light back and hey presto the reception on am is miles better!
