Ford Fiesta Mk6 1.6 TDCi

Hello all,

I'm new so apologies if this is the wrong section!

I'm looking to purchase a 1.6 TDCi Mk6 for a daily. There are tons about but I don't want to pay over the odds.

Ideally I want a facelift and heated screen so drop me a message if you have one!

I wanted to know what to look out for? Particular with higher mileage vehicles?

Also, tunabilty, can you get good power out of them? Not expecting anything fast but no harm done with extra torque!

Many thanks!

Ensure that the engine has been fully serviced, lots of issues with the 1.6 TDCI (DV6) engine with the oil system.

Its always a gamble buying a used car nowadays.

Biggest bit of advice aside from all the usual hpi stuff etc would be to check the service history.

As mentioned above there are a few issues that could prove costly if these engines are not well serviced!

Thanks guys. What problems would these be?

I always look for service history in a car so will note that!

If you Google "dv6 diesel engine oil feed turbo pdf" you'll see a pdf from turbopower its 44 pages long have a read through it and it will point to some issues.

Some also blame faulty injector seals leading to carbonisation of the oil. Not sure the exact years affected and when/if it was fully rectified. You basically don't take chances with the service history on one of these engines is the general consensus.
